Judy woke up. She walked downstairs and ate breakfast. After washing the dishes, she walked back upstairs to her room. She went on her phone, and read some stories online.
1 Week Later...
Judy received a text on her phone, saying, "Would you like to meet my stepdad?" It was from Hatty. Judy got a bit excited and texted yes. A few minutes later, after walking to Hatty's house, Hatty let her in and they walked to the living room, sitting down on the couch. "Stay right here, Judy. I'll go get my dad." Hatty said, but when he got up, Judy gently grabbed his sleeve and asked nervously, "Hatty, is he nice?" "Why, yes he is!" Hatty said with a grin, walking to another room. Judy waited patiently. After hearing Hatty and his "father" talking briefly, they both walked out. They both sat down next to Judy. "Well Judy, this is my dad, Reginald. Reginald, this is my girlfriend, Judy." Hatty introduced. "Well, it's a pleasure to meet you, Judy." Reginald said. "It's nice to meet you too, Reginald!" Judy said, relieved by how polite Reginald was. "So Hatty, where'd you meet this nice lady?" Reginald asked Hatty. "I met her on the beach, Dad!" Hatty said. "Oh that's nice!" Reginald said, interested. He looked at Judy. "Young lady, you are lucky to have someone like Hatty. He really likes you." Reginald said. Judy grinned. She did felt grateful for being in a relationship. "Hatty, I'm glad you found your soulmate. Just as long as you treat her right, it's guaranteed that she's a keeper." Reginald explained. Hatty grinned as well. "I will Dad." He said. "Can I ask another question?" Reginald asked Hatty. "Yes." Hatty confirmed. "Have you met Judy's parents? Do they approve of you?" Reginald asked. "W-well, I have met her Mom, but, you see..." Hatty paused, not sure if he wanted to tell his Dad. "Go on." Reginald beckoned. "Judy's parents... They don't.... Approve of me because, I'm not rich..." Hatty said. Reginald was surprised to hear this. Judy felt sad upon hearing this. "Her parents don't like you? Well, maybe they just don't see how good of a person you are." Reginald explained. Suddenly a light came on in Hatty's head. "Yeah, maybe you're right!" Hatty said. Judy was excited to hear this. "Maybe if I prove to her parents that I'm good, they'll accept me!" Hatty said. "That sounds good." Reginald said, grinning. "Thank you Dad!" Hatty said, gently grabbing Judy's hand. "Thank you Reginald!" Judy said. "You're welcome." He replied. They both said goodbye and walked outside. Hatty then said to Judy. "So Judy, what can I do to prove to your parents that I'm worthy?" Judy pondered for a moment. "Maybe you could get a job?" Judy suggested. "Yeah, maybe that." Hatty said. "Or you could-" Judy paused for a moment. She wasn't sure if her next idea was a good one. "I could do what?" Hatty asked curiously. "It's a stupid idea..." Judy said. "C'mon Judy, it must be a good one!" Hatty encouraged. Judy still resisted. Her and Hatty stopped walking. "Judy, I'm your boyfriend. You can tell me anything." Hatty confessed. Judy finally gave in. "Maybe you could talk to my parents." Judy said. "Hmm, maybe I could do that..." Hatty said. After a few seconds of silence, Hatty said. "Oh well. We could always think up more ideas." Judy said. "Yeah." They continued walking until they reached her house. Hatty and Judy kissed eachother goodbye and Judy climbed back into her room.
