She lit the cigarette, not caring about the damage she was inflicting onto her lungs. The second the drug hit her lips she begged for it to burn all her problems away, but it only left an ashy aftertaste on her tongue. Blasting music echoed around her room, sending shivers down her spine. She closed her eyes and let the smoke surround her like a cold, meaningless hug. A smile crept on her pinkish lips as she let the nicotine drag her deeper, trapping her even further.
She remembers it so clearly, the day she smoked her first cigarette. It was the middle of Autumn, she was in her towns main park. There was a gathering of school children on a field trip, around thirty kids and four teachers. She and her friends Grace and Maddison were sitting on a bench that was surrounding one of the many fountains. They were enjoying each other's companies when Maddison took a packet of cigarettes and a lighter out of the back pockets of her jeans.
Grace stared at her questioningly. "Where did you find those?" Maddison took one out and lit it, putting it in her mouth. She looked so peaceful not realising what it can do to her. "I stole it from my mum a couple days ago, she didn't notice," As she spoke a cloud of black escaped her her mouth. "I swear that woman is blind, hey Luna, wanna try?" Maddison glanced over at her, the packet in her hands. Luna looked at both her best friends, as if they were the devil and the Angel on her shoulders. She reluctantly took it, adjusting it in between her fingers. Maddison leaned in, lighting it herself. Building up the courage, she brought it to her lips, inhaling the smoke from the already burnt tobacco. Luna instantly knew she would be addicted. Maddison looked at her smugly. "I knew you would like it,"
