Colton felt a sharp prick in his wrist, and his eyes popped open in alarm. He instantly flinched when harsh white light blazed his eyes. He was in a completely white room, white floors, white walls, white ceilings, white bed and a door in front of the bed. The boy was confused for a moment, wondering where he was, but couldn't think properly while being blinded by the bright room.
Soon his blue eyes adjusted to the light, and he focused on a young woman with bright red hair beside him, her grey eyes wide.
The blonde eighteen year old jerked away in panic when he saw the needle full of his blood being held in a manicured hand.
The woman blinked a few times, then glanced at the needle, and jumped out of her daze.
"Sorry about the needle," was all she said, and put it down on a table beside the bed.
"Where am I?" Colton rasped out, his voice rough and painful.
"It's a long story, and if you want me to explain, it'll have to be real quick." She said quietly, her eyes fixed on his face.
He only blinked, not quite finding words to match his confusion.
"As everyone knows, the world is over populated, and the government wants that to stop, so therefore, they've come to drastic measures." The nurse murmured.
"What does that mean?" Colton frowned, and rubbed his tired eyes.
"Basically, they're sending out one generation and sending them as far away as possible. And you just so happen to be in that generation, which means you'll be sent away."
He just stared, his mind unable to comprehend what she had just said, before he gathered his questions. "How will they make us leave?"
"There are multiple other people around your age that are currently being injected with an illness that will kill all those around you, if you don't move at the appropriate pace. I just injected you with it." The nurse smoothed her fire red hair down, shifting on her feet slightly.
Colton felt terror flood through his recently injected veins.
The woman turned, and went over to a sink in the room to wash her hands.
Shouts were abruptly heard in front of the door and the nurse stared at the wall in front of her, her eyes going wide in fear. She glanced at him quickly, and ran over to the table, grabbing a needle.
She jabbed it in him, and he gave a quiet shout in surprise and pain.
"Don't ever say anything about what I told you, understand?" The nurse whispered hurriedly to him.
He didn't even have time to answer before the door swung open and five men with large weapons barged into the room.
They grabbed the woman roughly, and they dragged the shrieking nurse out of the room, locking the door behind them.
Colton stumbled out of bed, and hurried to the door, and stared out a small window. He could see two rooms across from his, one with a tall girl around his age, and the room beside hers had a younger girl in it.
The blonde boy shook in panic, then felt exhaustion hit him in a wave, and he collapsed to the floor, unconscious, the last thing he saw was the young girl's face staring right at his in dismay.
