I fly across the court, and by the time I reach over the edge, I slow down slightly, and I do a falcon dive, elevating me and taking me closer to the platform, and I know Samus is waiting at the edge for me.
I begin to descend prematurely, and my heart falls to my stomach, and I hear one thing:
"ONE! GAME!" and it all falls away and I see a different setting. Before me is a score, and big letters spelling out, "YOU WON!" I did it, I won. I look behind me, to my left, and there is Samus, with a silver number two below her, and he is clapping, almost sarcastically. It may have only been one death, but when you are experts, you learn to avoid dying.
I speak to the mic, "Good job, I haven't had that much of a challenge for a long time..."
There is a click, and I hear a girl's voice, and she says, "Yeah, same. That's the first time I lost through this whole test." she is a teenager, probably around my age. The score falls away, and then whole world goes black. I take a moment to realize that I am in reality now, and I take off the virtual game helm.
I have a mix of emotions, and I won one of the biggest tournaments in classic gaming history. It was me versus the world's best game testers, and I won. I can't wait for the Brawl version. Sonic, here I come! I take off the pressure nodes carefully so I don't rip the wires. I then see the lights slowly turn on, and face the people I have called my team for so long. Soon, they will join me in the multiplayer online games, and I feel a tingly sensation, euphoria.
I later go home, and call my mom, and tell her about it all.
"I wish dad was here to see me now..." I say, tears building in my eyes.
"He would have been proud. After all, he did make the game..." and there is the same twinkle in my mom's eye, and I tell her I love her, and hang up. Yes, it was in my blood. Maybe that's why the game resonates with me so deeply? Anyways, I decide to call my opponent, the mysterious girl who was behind the Amazonian-like Samus today. She picks up, and I see her yawn.
"Who is this? It is late!"I now hear the accent, and she is American, like me. She has pale skin, and she is actually really pretty. I start to speak.
"We fought earlier." was all I could say. Her eyes lit up, and she smiles. She seems like a cheerful person.
