It was a cold virus

The year is 2036 and at the beginning of the cold war the USA started looking into biological weapons so they hired heart tech a company that was already making new things possible like floating cars, and new weapons while they made the new Bio weapon they still kept making us citizens happy by making things like Ai nannies, robotic houses, and for our troops they had body adrenaline but when the virus was completed it soon broke out and plagued the land.

.It was a cold morning but what do you expect? It's the only way to keep the virus out, and that's a good thing. that virus has eliminated "North America, Mexico, Texas, California, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, North and South Carolina, Arizona, Georgia, Florida, and Ohio" I know that because I found a map once. "The rest of the states became pure anarchy other than the three groups" The Congress, a group "trying to make america great again" but that's pure BS, They just want money. Next The Underground army, another group, who has no alliance there just trying to survive so usually there neutrale in all wars. No matter who you are or where you're from find a Underground army camp and you're kinda save You still have to worry about your basic run of the mill bad guys murders, thieves, and liars. Then there are everyone's best friends the bastards know as The Infected they call themselves that because they think that the virus is a being and there blessed with the ability to live amongst the virus well the mass graves proved that wrong. Then there is The Scavengers but they're more of an idea than a people. And me? well I'm a scavenger and all I'm trying to do is stay alive in this world and to do that you have to have survivor sense which means you know what it takes to survive. Now, into our story.

"Hello this is squad five. We picked a scavenger and some family" I heard the big guy who was on a walkie talkie outside my cell. I heard his footsteps come closer, I saw when he walked into view. He was wearing Congress armor with the traditional american flag on it, he came closer to my cell.

"Dirty scavenger scum" He said as he spit at me. He walked to the bars of my cell.

"What makes me scum?" I said as I stood up and walked to the bars of my cell, placing my hands on the cold bars.

"Well for starts you kill anyone for anything and then you have no honor." He said as he grabbed his M16 and pointed it at me

"What honor do you have? Because I don't act like a raider, I'm a scavenger and I live by the scavenger's code." I said as he started unlocking my cell. The family behind me had a father, a mother, and 2 little girls and they were all cowering in the corner, I don't blame them though.

"There's no such thing as the scavengers code." he stated as he tried to hit me with the buttstock but I grabbed it

"Rule one: no innocent lives must be harmed." I said as I pulled the gun away from him with an easy pull. He wasn't expecting that.

"Rule two: never steal" I said as I hit him in the stomach with the buttstock He stepped back in dazed as I moved in front of the family.

"Rule three: always stay alive. Little ones look away" I said as I shot him in the head and he immediately crumpled down to the floor.

"Run I'll distract the other guards" I said as I looked back at the family. They got up and I could hear their soft padded footsteps on the wooden floor.

I ran to where my gear was. I ran up and saw my Kel tec KSG and my AK-12 and the norm, a gas-mask, some food, meds, ammo, and my Makarov. I heard the rest of the guards yelling for back up outside the door that led to the inside of the safe zone.

"Hey don't move or I'll shoot" I heard a shaky voice say he sounded young. I turned around he looked just 15, I could tell by his half grown moustache and zits with a lanky body. I then noticed he had an m16 too.
