This Party Had To End Sometime

I’m sitting here with a drink in my hand, listening to the music blare through out the house. I can’t hear a word people are saying to me as they walk past. On my taste buds, the taste of alcohol remains. The smell of cigarettes and my drink fill my nose. Holding me close like someone’s going to try to steal me away from him, some guy wraps his arm around me; I’m not sure who he is, but I don’t care. I’m here just to have a good time anyway. My mind is an insane asylum. I can’t concentrate on anything.

I turn towards the guy beside me and say, “Could you let me go, I need to go outside” Our eyes meet and he’s looking at me like I’m crazy or something, but he lets me go.

Get up from the couch.  Force your way through the crowd. Don’t get lost. Not knowing where I’m going because this house is so huge, I thoughtlessly wander through the house. From behind me, I feel someone grab my hand, and then I hear the sweetest sounding voice ever. “Are you lost sweetie?” I turn around to see the guy I was sitting with. I just look up at him, dumbfounded, and nod.

I have no choice but to follow, as he pulls me by my hand behind him. When we get outside, he lets go of my hand, and sits down on the grass. So he gestures for me to sit down beside him, he looks at me with a smile on his face and says, “ So do you have a name?”

I drop myself down beside him, “Umm yeah, my names Alana, what’s yours?” I play with the grass in my hands.

“Heath” he says with a smile still on his face, and I can’t help but look at him and smile back. “So what’s a gorgeous girl like you here alone?”

“Well I was here with a couple of my friends, but I’m pretty sure they ditched me hours ago”

“Ohh, not very good friends” is all he says back. I’m not looking at him but I can tell that he is surprised. I laughed to break the awkward tension. “Yeah but it’s okay, I don’t mind it. It’s happened countless times before.... but… what made you decide to help me find my way out of that house anyway?”

He looks up at me “Well when you left I kinda watched, and you were going around in circles for a couple of minutes so I thought that I’d come see if you needed help getting out of the house”

Jokingly, I chuckle “Yeah I almost started to freak out because I was getting so frustrated. That house is packed!”

It was quiet between us for a couple of minutes before I heard him say, “I know this might be weird us just meeting and all, but I’m heading home. You wanna come with me? It’s way better then staying here alone”

“Umm sure but I can’t stay with you long, my friends will freak if they don’t see me again before sunrise!” he looks at me and nods, gets up and puts his hands out for me, so I get up.

Not talking to each other, not looking at each other… just silence between us, as we start walking to his car. The ride to his house was the same, complete silence; I just look out the window of his car and paid attention to all the different lights coming from signs of stores, the people on the streets walking around looking for some place to go, and the world seeming so peaceful but broken.

Once we got inside his apartment, Heath walked over to his fridge, and grabbed some drinks for us. We went into his living room only to find a guy and a girl asleep on his couch. Heath walked by the guy and gave him a nudge to wake him up. “Bro! Get up and go into your room or something, I have my girl here!” The guy’s eyes open right away when he heard I was here.

I wasn’t really thinking about everything that was going on around me, I was thinking about Heath and how he called me his girl. Why had he done that, gone and told his friend that I was his girl, when we’d we just met like an hour ago. What if Heath liked me? I haven’t being with a guy in awhile so I can’t mess this night up.

“ALANA HELLO, YOU THERE?” Heath said waving his hand in front of my face.

“Huh? What did you say?” I said looking at him clueless.

Heath laughed, “ I said Alana meet Conner”

“Ohh, umm hi” I said awkwardly looking at Conner with a small smile.

Conner laughed along with Heath and said, “Yeah, nice to meet you too, don’t mind Mia and I, you guys go on with your little party”

Since Conner and his girl didn’t move into a different room, Heath sat down on the loveseat and pulled me on the couch with him,we ended up hitting our heads together when I fell on his lap. Heath and I both looked at each other shocked, then burst out laughing! Breathless Heath said, “ I’m sorry baby girl I’m such a klutz! Let me kiss it better” Immediately, I stopped laughing when I heard those words come from his mouth. Was he serious? I look up at him in surprise. He was looking back at me waiting for an answer; I nod with a smile on my face. Heath did as he said he was going to do and kissed my forehead. The feelings I had when he kissed my forehead were unexplainable, making me want more.

“Heath, What the hell? You guys go into your room” Conner said in disgust. Heath laughs along with Mia and I.

“Dude you little 7 year old. I just kissed her on the forehead! Calm down it’s not like we are going to like get it on or something in front of you!” Heath said in a “Don’t you know” tone.

Heath grabs my drink and finished it, without me noticing,. “Heath you jerk!” I teased sticking my tongue out at him, “Go get me another one now.” So he pushed me off of him and ran away into the kitchen, and I landed on my butt on the floor.

“Ohh Heath your going to get it now!” I giggle, as I ran after him. When I got into the kitchen Heath was holding a 6 pack of my favorite drink. “I give this as a peace offering” he said in a silly voice.

Flirtatiously, I grab the pack of drinks out of his hand and walk back into the living room. I open up one of the drinks, and take a big gulp, letting the taste sit on my tongue for a second so I could get a good taste. Everything was calming down. Heath and I cuddle on the love seat watching TV while; Conner is asleep again along with Mia on the other couch.

I still couldn’t get over the fact that Heath had called me his girl; just thinking about it gave me butterflies. I do like Heath, he is a very nice guy and he looks good too. I have seen him at our school before but, as far as I know, he has one more year of high school, his parents live here in town, and he plays football. That’s all I really heard during the conversations at the party…

I woke up with a massive headache. What happened last night? Where am I? What time is it? Who’s lying beside me? Anxious thoughts filled my head. I don’t want to open my eyes afraid of what I might see. I just remember being with Heath, but I can’t seem to remember everything else. I can hear the faint sounds of someone snoring; I know for sure that I’m not at home.

Ohh God I hope I didn’t do anything stupid last night.
