Taylor POV
"You must be Taylor. I'm Takakura, your dad's old friend." Dad. He died when I was 4, and now I'm moving from my life in the city to some tiny little village for him. I thought about Dad as Takakura kept telling me about the farm and showing me around. I followed naturally, not even realizing where I was going. OOMPH! I fell down, landing on my butt. I looked up to see a blonde guy standing over me, his peace necklace gleaming into my eyes. "You should watch where you're going." He said sarcastically. "I'm Rock!" Like I care! "Taylor." I said, standing up and wiping the dirt off of my butt. "Taylor..? This is Tim and Ruby." Takakura introduced the two adults standing behind Rock and and they each flashed a smile. Tim, was kind of pudgy and wore and odd red and orange outfit with a wierd red fez sitting on his head. His black hair fell in his eyes. Ruby was his wife, I could tell by their holding hands. Ruby was shorter than most and wore a pretty skirt with an ordinary t-shirt. Her hair shagged to the right.
"A girl about your age, Nami, also lives here at the Inn." Tim explained. I saw Takakura walking away out of the corner of my eye. "Well, it was nice meeting you!" I said, as I ran to catch up with Takakura. We stopped in front of a house, an old couple standing outside, chatting away. Cough cough.. Takakura anounced himself. "Oh! Hello!" The old woman said. Her gray hair stuck out of the sides of her lady bug hat, and.. Well.. Old people clothes. "Hmmph.." The old man said, sounding grumpy. I turned to him. He was wearing a hairnet (<<<<WTF!! WHY'S HE WEARING A HAIRNET!!), and normal old guy clothes.
"I'm Nina, and this is my husband Galen! What's your name?" The old lady asked. "I'm Taylor!" I said kindly, introducing myself to the old couple. "We still have several people to meet. We have to go now, Galen. Nina." Takakura said, nodding and starting to walk away. "It was nice to meet you!" I said, waving and walking up to Takakura. "Those people seemed really nice!" I said. Small talk is NOT my best subject. "Yep. Nina's been getting sick frequently though. I worry about her health and Galen." Takakura explained.
"Hello, Takakura!" A tall blonde woman said. We walked up to her and I saw her close up. She had glasses and wore a business suit. "Hello Chris." Takakura said. "This is Taylor, she's gonna be a rancher on the farm." Takakura explained to the woman. "Nice to meet you!" She smiled. "My husband and son are out exercising. If you see them, say hi!" She said. "Will do, Chris." Takakura assured. I was still studying her when I realised Takakura had alreadystarted walking over to a well with a man and a boy in front of it. I assumed this was Chris's family.
"Hey, Taka!" The boy yelled, waving at Takakura. "Hey Takakura!" The man said, stopping his.. Exercising.. And looked over. "Hello, Wally. Hugh. This is Taylor. She'll be the new rancher on the farm." He told them. "Nice to meet ya!" Wally, the dad said. "We saw you talking to my Mommy!" The kid, Hugh, said. "Yes. We did! She's a nice lady." I smiled. "Isn't Takakura showing you araound?" Wally asked. "Yeah, why?" I said, confused. "Because he's already walking away. How the hell does he walk away so damn fast!? I ran to catch up with him, forgetting to say goodbye.
"You really need to tell me when you're walking away!" I said when I finally caught up to Takakura. "Griffin, Muffy. This is Taylor. She's the new rancher." Her said to the man and girl standing in front of me. Muffy was a thin girl with long, blonde, wavy hair. She wore a short, red, dress, a jacket, and black heels. She smiled. "Hi! I hope you'll start by our bar sometime!" She said. The gruff looking man stood close by her wearing jeans, boots and a jacket. His long dark hair was tied in a ponytail at the nape of his neck. "We should go now." Takakura said. At least he said something.. But he didn't have to be so rude to these people.. "Nice to meet you!" I said smiling and walking away with Takakura.
I didn't even try to make any small talk. What's the point. It'll just be awkward.
We walked up a huge hill towards a mansion. "Oh! Hello Takakura! I'll go get Romana and Lumina!" The man that was working on the yard said, walking inside. I leaned against the fountain and looked araound at their huge yard. "It's very pretty here." I said out loud. The door closed and when I looked, I saw an older woman, a young girl, and the man from before. "Hello. I'm Romana."The older woman said. "This is my granddaughter Lumina, and our butler Sebastian." She introduced them each in turn. "I'm Taylor." I said. "I'll be working on the ranch!" Lumina smiled at me. "I hope we can be friends!" She said. "I'm going now. We have more thing to do today." Takakura said. "Well. It was nice to meet you!" I said, smiling at them before I turned and left with Takakura.
We walked all the way across the village and over a bridge, reaching a farm. Outside, there was a young girl about my age, a REALLY cute guy a little bit older than me, and a large woman. The girl looked up and saw us approaching. She stood up, wiping off her dress and walking over to the fence. "Hi!" She said. The man who was working only a few feet away from the girl looked up and walked over. "I'm Celia!" The girl said. "I'm Taylor." I said smiling. I looked over at the man expentently, but he only stood there, silent. "This is Marlin!" Celia finally said, nudging him in the side. "Hey.." He said quietly. The large woman walked up and put a hand on each of their shoulders. "I'm Vesta! I run this farm! Marlin is my brother and Celia lives here too!" The large woman explained. "Taylor." I repeated.
"Up the hill, there's a dig site run by Carter and Flora." Takakura said, nodding at the hill. He started walking away. "I'll come by later and talk again, but Takakura and I have hings to finish up today. Bye!" I said, waving as I ran to catch up with Takakura. I followed behind him silently as he led me back over the bridge. He pointed at an area near the ocean. "There are people over there.. But they're wierd, so I'm not going to go over there." He said. "There are twins who make fireworks, a scientist, and an artist. There's also a hippie who plays the guitar." He explained.
I followed as he walked back to the farm. "Get some rest and we'll start work tomorrow." Takakura said, walking away. That man.. He needs to stop being so un-sociable.. I walked inside my house and my mind drifted back to Marlin.
I saw his black shaggy hair, the small bit the fell into his eyes which were a dark brown that I could just get lost in. Why am I thinking like this! I just met the guy not half and hour ago! I silently punished myself for thinking about Marlin like that.
