Narrative's POV:

The band sat together in a black
people carrier that was taking them to their next destination. It had been a long drive- 8 hours to be exact, and they were all exhausted. Jonny glanced yet again towards Chris to see that he was still sleeping soundly, his head resting against the window. He had slept for most of the journey- something that was very out of character for him.

Jonny had noticed that he was coughing a lot... they usually stayed on the same floor at hotels and even then he could still hear him coughing violently at through the night. He literally looked like death warmed up when he emerged from his room this morning. He couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong with him

He was pulled from his thoughts a few minutes later, as the car pulled up outside the venue and everyone started filling out of the van. Will turned towards Jonny and met his gaze.

"You'll have to wake him up soon, the van's not staying here." He told him, a gentle look in his eyes.

"Yeah, you guys go have a look round, we'll be there in a minute " He told him with a smile. Once everyone had left, he turned to face Chris.

-------------------------------------------------------

"Chris?... Chris, wake up mate... we're here". Jonny's soft voice filled Chris' ears and he could feel him gently shaking him by the shoulder, trying to arouse him. He had a thumping headache and involuntary whimpered as pain exploded near his temples. He then slowly opened his eyes to see Jonny sat beside him, his eyes full of concern.

"Ok, ok... I'm up" he breathed, drawing out a yawn. He sat up stiffly, massaging the back of his neck. He met his friend's gaze."How long was I asleep for?".

"About 8 hours? Most of the journey , you were out like a light" he chuckled. Chris nodded in agreement, although his thoughts were clouded. Jon picked up on this. "Are you sure you're ok? You look awful " He joked, humour lacing his voice as he gazed at his friend. He wasn't lying though- Chris was as white as sheet and looked exhausted.

"Gee, thanks" Chris chuckled, rubbing his eyes roughly. "Yeah, I'm fine... just tired, you know how it is" he added, referring to his insomnia.

Jonny nodded and sighed in sympathy. He had noticed that his friend wasn't himself- he was quieter than usual and was having trouble sleeping- until exhaustion took over, like it had for the car journey just now. He sounded full of cold and wasn't eating properly. He knew Chris was denying the fact that he was ill as he didn't want to cancel the last show before their 2 week break.

"So where is everyone?" He asked, his eyes scanning the empty people carrier in confusion.

"They've already headed into the venue, so we can settle down and grab something to eat before sound check in a hour or so." Jonny told him. Chris nodded, before grabbing his bags, opening the door and hopped outside. Jonny followed suit, joining his friend and walked by him to the venue. Chris remained quiet.

"Looking forward to see Y/N when we get back to the UK?" he asked, willing for Chris to perk up.

"Yeah, it'll be lovely to see her again, I'm planning of flying her out to Malibu with me when I come back to the states to see the kids" he smiled, his grin contagious and made Jonny smile too.

"I'm so happy you guys are working things out, you know, with your work schedules and juggling things with the kids" Jonny remarked, admiring how well organised his friend was.
