Lily's Pov

a shadow of a purple raincoat caught my eye.
I turned to see a petite framed black girl walking into the restaurant.
she chewed on her lip and played with her hands.
the side profile was enough to let me know who it was.

she had grown so much.
her curves extenuated and lips pursed.
her fluffy coils were shoulder length.
her glowing complexion was brighter than ever.

she didn't notice me at first.
I was sitting in the corner booth on the left
where there wasn't much light.
but i watched her every move.

she was graceful without trying.
each movement flowing into the next.
her head was held high and she asked the man if she could apply for a job.
the man sneered and her smile faded for a mere millisecond.

"we don't serve, hire, or like niggers here.
you should know damn well." he growled.
i couldn't believe his arrogance after all these years.
I watched her turn on her heel and gave her a small smile.

she noticed me.
my cheeks warmed up.
it's been so long.
she didn't stop though.

but I knew I'd see her again.
