I woke up in a gasp, my forehead covered in sweat and my heart racing. I had had the same dream every night for the past month. I could still feel the hands of the man caressing my body. His lips skimming over my neck and chest. It had been the most erotic dream I had ever had. Then I kept having it. Now I was hot and bothered by this dream of this man I barely know. Running my fingers through my long red hair I get up, walking down the hallway and into my kitchen for a glass of water. The dream felt so real just like all the others. 'Why am I dreaming about that jerk?' I thought to myself. Sighing and drinking the water to cool myself down, I walk back to my bedroom and lay down on the four poster bed and stare up at the blue ceiling. The man I dream about is none other than Emmett O'Connell eligible bachelor extraordinaire. The man had an ego the size of the moon. I am surprised his head fit through the atmosphere let alone a building. Emmett is tall muscled man with medium length brown hair. He has blue-gray eyes that I could get lost in if given the chance. The first and only time I met Emmett was a month ago at........

[Flashback]

Tonight I was going to have a good time. I had pulled my ever long hair on top of my head and into an elegant bun. I was dressed in a long evening gown that had a slit up to my thigh. The dress was a deep green, which went well with I red hair, or so I was told. The dress was a one shoulder look as well and made me feel like a Greek goddess. To go with the dress I wore a single teardrop emerald necklace, although it was tiny, I still loved it. It had been my Grandmother’s and I always wore it for special occasions. My reason for this amazing and glorious transformation of my normal self was that I was going to a charity ball to support the best charity.

The charity that was to help the younger children of my kind, that’s right you read correctly, I said ‘my kind’. See there is a world that you would not know about. A world far different than the one that you think exists.  A world where people can turn into animals. I know what you’re thinking. No we are not Animorphs, no we are not werewolves, although some can turn into wolves, it is not what Hollywood would have you thinking. No we can change into an animal from birth. Although we do not know how. It is not until the age of five that our parents begin to teach us how to change. Each change is different because every person is their own animal. For instance my mom, being the free spirit she is, her animal is a falcon, so she can soar through the skies and be free. My dad, well he was an amazing man. Loyal, a leader, protective, and loving. He was a lion.

Now you’re probably wondering how they could be two different animals. Well that is just how it has been. The only time a couple is the same animal is if they go looking for one and mate together. Or they are truly soul mates. I know, I know soul mates are so cliché, well this is not the general term that you talk about and mistake for just anyone. Soul mates in our world are truly destined to be together. In a sense they have been together in past lives.  Yes we believe in Reincarnation or the fact that you live for more than one lifetime. When one of the rare ones finds their soul mate their animals change to represent them as a couple. . If my parents had been true mates I believe they would have been panda bears. That may sound silly but that is my belief. As for my animal, I'm a dolphin. That may seem like a dumb animal but it's the best feeling on the planet. The way I can swim through the water. The amount of sea life I've seen. It's amazing. I love the fact that we have a half and half form too. This is where we can change only parts of our body at a time.

I'm suddenly startled from my thoughts when I see a man enter and be catches everyone's attention. He’s tall about 6'1 and has very broad shoulders. It looks like he works out a lot. His hair is scraggy but curly and chocolate brown. It makes me want to run my fingers through it. When he looked around the room briefly I could see that he has piercing blue-grey eyes. He looks so striking. For a moment I find myself wondering what it would be like if this man was my soulmate. I shake the thought out of my mind before I go too far. No I'm not that lucky. Besides if he was my soulmate then I'd have to give up my dolphin form for another and I would never let that happen. Now would be a good time to let you know that males are the ones that sense the soulmate. A female won’t be able to know who her soulmate is until the man kisses her.
