Chapter 6

"Come on Buffy! Hurry up! Giles said it was an emergency!" Dawn shouted at Buffy whilst dragging her through the small streets of Sunnydale.

They heard the oh so familiar sound of the bell tingling as the opened the Magic Box's doors.

"Ah, Buffy, Dawn. There you are." Giles said, not lifting his head from the massive pile of old, leather bound and well used books stacked on the wooden table in the centre of the badly lit shop.

"So, what kind of demon are we slaying tonight?" Dawn asked, clearly excited, too excited.

Giles went on to say, in immense detail, about a nest of vampires, or a werewolf problem, or a new demon settling down in Sunnydale. The usual.

Buffy didn't listen. She knew that she would be able to go in, kill the vampire or the werewolf or the demon and come out relatively unscathed. This made her look at her wrist. It was bandaged up and still throbbed slightly. When Dawn, Will and Tara had asked her what happened, Buffy told told that she had been wrestled down by a vamp, who had very rudely stamped on her wrist, therefore a bandage and painkillers were necessary.

At that moment, Willow, Tara, Anya and Xander walked in, holding five coffee's, one tea and a hot chocolate from the coffee shop around the corner.

"Anya, you are late." Giles said, sounding annoyed.

"But I bought you tea." Anya replied. They got into an argument about punctuality and everyone happily zoned out of that conversation.

"So, Buff, Spike not here today?" Xander asked. Buffy had been inviting Spike to the Scooby meetings quite often recently and Xander was not a fan, to say the least.

Hearing this jolted Buffy back to reality.

"Huh? Oh, no. Its daytime, Xander. Spike plus daytime equals pile of dust."

"So? That wouldn't be terrible now, would it? Anyway it hasn't stopped him before, has it?"

"He's just not here today Xand, okay? Just drop it." Buffy nearly shouted at him.

Everyone looked at Buffy with the same shocked expression. She never lost her temper like that. If she did, she took it out on the various non-human residents of Sunnydale.

"She had a late night last night. And she hurt her wrist. So maybe give her some space." Dawn defended Buffy, but she thought that her sister had no right to talk to Xander like that. Why was Buffy so angry?

Buffy sighed and apologised to Xander. She needed to talk to someone about Spike, about how confused she was. About her undeniable feelings towards him.

Buffy sighed and slouched down in the uncomfortable wooden chair. She tried to listen to Giles' detailed plan on how to rid Sunnydale of vampires but her thoughts were plagued with those of Spike. What was she going to do?
