My mom and I sat in our living room eating pizza we just ordered watching the news. It was just the normal stuff, a car crash, a fire and a murder. We were just talking about school until I heard something about the world on the news and I stopped talking and turned up the TV. "There has been a call worldwide from the president of the United States of America. There is a threat from another species from another galaxy. They are planning to blow up the earth, the sun and the moon in six months time. We do not have enough soldiers in the world to fight them so we will need help from civilians across the world. How they are recruiting you is in the Facebook Terms and Conditions. When you agreed to them, you were agreeing to in a time when the world is in distress you will help fight on the battlefield for your world. We will be searching the profiles and you will be getting an email in latest 24 hours. We will be picking 50 000 people. From now on your Facebook account is deleted. That is all for your news. Thank you.”

I can't believe it. I looked at my mom in disbelief. The government was recruiting people around the world to fight in a intergalactic battle. "I can't believe it. They can't pick children. And how are they training us? Half the world has never even held a gun!" My mom exclaimed. "I wonder how long till people get an email, it can't really just be in 24 hours" I wondered aloud, "I hope I never know" my mom said going and throwing out her pizza. "Same" I replied throwing my half eaten piece of pizza in my dog's bowl.

The next day school was a mess. Every girl was crying and every boy was in the gym training. The teachers were running around with tissues and therapist cards. My friends and I were about the only normal ones around. We stood by our lockers getting ready for our next class though I bet we wouldn't do any work. "So, do u know if anybody has been recruited yet?" My friend Jane asked, we all shook our heads. They probably wouldn't send the emails out until the end of this week.

We walked to class and sat down at the back of the room at our normal seats. A couple people eventually filtered in and by the time the teacher arrived after 20 mins, a half hour late from when the bell rang, there was only five other people in the class. The teacher said her apologies and started stuttering and shaky rambling about science. Half way through the class I got a buzz from my phone. When the teacher's back was turned to the class I quietly took my iPhone from my back pocket. It was an email from an unknown address. I opened it and read it. It read: Hello Ally Parsen. You are privileged to be one of the 50 000 recruits. On the link below you will find your plane ticket to California where you will stay there for the next 6 months training to fight a intergalactic battle. You have a week to arrive at your location or we will come find you and bring you here by force. The government welcomes you and is looking forward to your arrival.

I was beyond shocked. I dropped my phone and ran out of class. I closed the door and looked back through the little window, I saw Jane carefully reach down to my phone and read the email and watch her face go white and burst into tears. The teacher ran over and took the phone from her hands and had the same effect on her. I ran away from the door and out of school. I jumped in my car and sped all the way to my house.

I ran through the door and searched around from my mom. She was sitting on the couch reading a book and looked very startled when I burst through the doorway. "What are you doing-" she began before I fell in her lap and finally began sobbing into her chest. She just held me for a little until I had calmed down a little bit and pulled me away from her and looked me in the eyes. "What is going on Ally?" She demanded, I just shook my head and fell over again. My mom continued comforting me until another 20 minutes has passed and the she firmly pulled me off of her and demanded her question again but with more force. I sniffed and shakily wiped away my tears. I got up and took my MacBook from it's charging place on the counter and brought it over to the couch and sat down. My mom looked confused but didn't question me. I went to my email and saw the email sitting there. I opened it and with my shaking. My mom furrowed her eyebrows, reached over and placed the computer on her lap and continued reading. Half way through the email my mom’s face wet white as a ghost and then that’s when I broke down again and she gave me a glance before finishing the email. She burst into tears with me and shuffled down the couch toward me. Me sat there crying for a little bit before my mom; being the strong woman she is stood up and wiped her tears away. “What are we going to tell Beckie?” I asked with tears glossing my eyes over again. My mom looked down at me, her eyes looking glassed over too, “I don’t know right now” she said sadly before walking upstairs and I could hear he walk into her bed room and shut the door. I sat on the couch for a little bit before getting up and going up to my bedroom.
