The Emains

“The Emain's? ”

“Yes, that's right.”

“Moving in? ”

“That's what I learned.”

The whispers among the people on the crowded streets got louder and louder with each and every second.

Cassandra tried to ignore the juicy gossips being passed among the people of the town. She pushed away the very thought of bumping into a huddle of gossipers. She would either add fuel to the fire unintentionally or would have a mental breakdown right then and there in front of the whole town.

Depression and anxiety weren't a really good combination.

She swiftly moved from her spot, dodging everyone.

Out of nowhere, a hand placed itself upon Cassandra's lips,  her back connected to a muscular wall before being dragged down the dark alleyway.

“Have courage –” She reminded herself.

“– And be kind” She whispered before dropping her head back with enough force, making the man behind her loosen his hold on her. She swung her leg hitting the man between his thighs. It was a low blow, but the man grunted before falling on his knees.

The moon peeked from the clouds making its pure light fall on the man's figure.

His pale skin along with his silver eyes stood out. His once jet black hair turned silver under the light.

“Benjamin” Cassandra stated.

“You aren't going to outrun anyone with that speed” Benjamin said before dusting his coat and leaning against the wall.

“I was obviously going easy on you” Cassandra let out a laugh before mimicking his moves.

There was a short pause before Benjamin decided to break the silence.

“Is it true?"

Cassandra looked at the silver pair of eyes watching her, intensely.

Intimidated by the intensity she looked away.

She knew what he was asking.

“ Yes ” She replied, gathering her courage.

“ I thought Aubriana was irreplaceable”

Cassandra looked at Benjamin in anger,her green eyes turning purple without her knowledge.

Before she could utter a word Benjamin placed his pale hand on her shoulder, making her snap out of her trance.

She backed away from him like a scared little kitten.

“What happened? Did I do something? ”She asked.

“I Don't know..you just paused for a while.” he replied.

“I...Should probably go” She said before taking small steps in the direction of her house.

“ Yeah, you might miss the dinner with the Emains”

“ Um- yeah! ” She said, leaving.

She eventually had to wonder How did he know about the Emains coming over for dinner?
