It was as if the bartender was completely ignoring me. Each time he looked over I would raise my hand to get his attention. He would just nod and continue to serve everyone but me. Mr. Silverthorne stayed by my side, even though I had nothing more to say to him.

“Sage why are you trying to get his attention, he’s busy and your glasses are full.”

I turned and grumbled, “It was a long wait for the washroom and I would like two fresh drinks.”

“The goblets keep your drinks cool, much longer then ice would. When the gems change color then it is warm, your drinks are still cold.”

Great so now that Peter guy thinks that I’m a liar, well that’s what I get for trying to spare a stranger’s feelings. I wasn’t about to explain to Mr. Silverthorne here what I was worried about. “I would like fresh drinks, is that not possible here? What if we didn’t like the drinks we ordered?”

“Is that the case?”

“No, I would just like fresh drinks.”

He raised his hand and the bartender flashed over. He was a supernatural, and I now know that it wasn’t makeup, but his regular skin tone. “Yes Sir, how may I serve you?”

“Miss Sage would like her drinks refreshed.”

He gave a single nod and made our new drinks in no time. I placed a ten on the bar and took the drinks. “Thank you,” I squeaked.

“It’s no charge Miss Sage.”

“Then it’s a nice tip, thank you again.”

Augustus placed his hand on my shoulder. There was no denying the automatic shivers that ran down my spine. “Allow me to carry those,” he chuckled.

“No and thanks again, it was nice meeting you.”

I weaved away from him and back to our table. Kylie and her friend had finally returned from the dance floor.

“Are you having fun?” she beamed.

“A blast,” I muttered. I wanted out now, Kylie had pissed me off! She knows our rule about our drinks. I placed the glass in front of her blocking her view of her new friend. “Next time don’t leave the table unless our glasses our empty, or I’m watching your drink,” I whispered.

“I know the rule Sage; they search everyone who has pockets. There are no drugs and no weapons allowed in this place.”

“How do drugs get into the jails? Where there’s an opening there’s a way,” I grumbled.

“Eewww that is so gross!” she exclaimed, way louder then needed.

“Think about it…cleavage, under your tongue. It’s not a chance I’m willing to take and I didn’t mean it like that.”

“What are you ladies giggling about?” asked the blond gentleman.

“Oh! Sage this is Brian Reeves, Brian this is my best friend Sage Creek.”

We shook hands and he smiled a very handsome smile. “Sage have you met my friend Peter?”

“I did thanks.”

Another slow song began and both guys stood. “Shall we dance?” they both asked at the same time.

Kylie stuck out her bottom lip. “Sage has a rule about leaving our glasses unwatched. She doesn’t want someone dropping drugs into it while we’re not looking.” New plan…kick the crap out of Kylie when no one is looking!

“It’s understandable,” Brian chuckled. “We’ve already shared a couple of dances, why don’t you two enjoy yourselves?”

I really didn’t want to dance, but I didn’t want to seem rude either. I nodded and slowly stood. Peter wasn’t short and so far he seemed to be able to carry a complete sentence, I began wondering what his flaw was? I mean…he’s better looking and had a more inviting smile. It all seemed rather odd, considering Kylie usually gets the winner while I get the wiener.
