After another week of being pregnant, still keeping the secret, I had to get out of the house. So, I grabbed my shall and my wicker basket and set down towards the village. As I approached, everyone was busy at stalls, chatting with friends and biting their lips over what they should eat for dinner. But, that all came to an end as I stepped up to a stap. Everyone and everything went dead silent. Then faint whispering. As I neared another stall, a group scattered, some dropping their things. I sighed, knowing that the healer passed on the news.
"Stop right there!" A tall man, black hair and a slight beard, grabs my arm, knocking my basket out of my hands. I was about to say something when he pulls out his dagger. "Are you Alexis?" I nod. "I have taken orders from a certain.. someone.. that you.. need to be taken care of."
I shiver. "What?" i ask in a small voice.
The man paid no mind as he roughly tied me to a stake in the ground. He lit some wool on fire, then said to the crowd gathering around us, "This woman, unbelieveable, I know, is carring a child." Gasps. "And, dont worry none, because here, at this very second, will be disposed of." The man steps closer.
"Wait!" I cry out. "You have no proof of this." My voice shakes.
"Why would a healer lie. Healers are not able to lie, because they know what would happen to them if they did." Panic risies in me. The man put the wool on the top of the stake, causing a few flames to drop on my arms. I scream in pain.
I look around the crowd for anyone who would help me, but all eyes are filled with fire. I sit, crying, waiting, watching the flames get closer.
Who will save me?
As soon as the flames reached me, I burn up. I cry and scream, but no one will save me. The flames are burning my skin, I react to the pain so badly.
Finally, I stop. I stop... feeling. I dont care anymore. I let the flames take me. My breath hitching.
I'm going to die and no one is here to save me.
This... is the death of me... of loving Peter... Of saving Peri from him... From believeing.
