Chapter 2 - Escape

Chapter 2

Viola packed her things and took one last look around her bedroom. She was both excited and nervous to come down to Earth with Lyndsy. And she doesn't have to worry about anything because Lyndsy's Aunt Iris will take care the both of them.

Aunt Iris has been living on Earth for more than ten years. She had married a  rich mortal who loved her with all his heart and is now living a happy life with him. Her husband is the only one who knew about her: The being of a Star.

Viola and Lyndsy's escape to Earth was agreed to be a secret between the two of them and Amelia. Viola and Amelia had a strong sister bond, which made them like partners in crime.

"Take care of yourself, sister," Amelia whispered.

Viola crouched down, making her and Amelia the same height. She put a hand on her sister's shoulder and smiled. "I will."

And with that, she left the palace and went back to Lyndsy's house without saying goodbye to her mother.

Somewhere in Shattrath, there is a portal that leads to Earth. And that's where Lyndsy and Viola are heading.

"Okay"--Lyndsy exhaled--"are you ready?" She pulled a couple of U.S. dollars out and counted it. Viola had a puzzled look on her face because in Shattrath, they use copper, silver, and gold pieces as their money. Bills and coins didn't exist among them.

"What are those? And where did you get that?" Viola asked, pointing at the U.S. dollars.

"Mortal money," Lyndsy answered. "You remember Aunt Iris, right?"

Viola nodded.

"She gave me this, in case I would come back. Now, you ready?"

Viola took a deep breath, as if it was her last time to breath the air of Shattrath. "Yes."

The portal to Earth shone, showing several buildings, skyscrapers, cars, and of course, humans.

"Here we go," Lyndsy muttered, holding her hand out for Viola to hold it.

One last deep breath, Viola closed her eyes and took Lyndsy by the hand and entered the portal leading to Earth.

 As they went into the portal, Viola's expectation was wrong. She thought that taking a portal to Earth was just easy. She thought that they would reach Earth right away. The portal made it look easy. But what Viola felt like was stumbling into a bright tunnel, but the tunnel didn't have any gravity.

And what it seemed like forever, they were finally out of the portal and into Earth.

"Welcome to Manhattan, New York," Lyndsy announced.
