"We have two teens. 1 boy 1 girl. The girl having an obvious broken foot and breathing problems and the boy having trouble breathing. Get them both on oxygen stat!" The EMT yells pushing my gurney through the emergency door. They push me in front of Shawn and shove an oxygen mask around my face. I turn to see Shawn on one of the beds, holding anxiously onto his oxygen mask.
"SHAWN!" I yell out before feeling a sharp pain in my lungs. I lay back in the bed, wheezing and loosing my breath.
"She's going into lung failure. We have to open her up!" A doctor says, grabbing a scalpel and holding it up.
"I'm so sorry sweetie but this is going to suck." She sighs before I feel the worst pain in my life. I try to scream but I can't.
And then everything went black.
(Shawns POV)
"Do you know her name?" The nurse asks me and I shake my head.
"No. All I know is that... I don't know." I sigh looking down.
All I know is that she is beautiful.
"What did she have with her? We're there any belongings you saw?" She asks and I shrug.
"She was alone. I-I think I saw a phone but I might be wrong." I try to think back to the arena. "Y-yeah yeah there was a phone! Right next to her on the ground! I'll go run and get it." I say throwing my legs over the side of the bed.
"No no, sir you can't do that." The nurse says putting her hands on my chest and icing me back into the bed.
"But how are you going to call her parents? They need to know!" I yell and the lady shushes me.
"We will send someone out to get it. Until then you have to stay right here." She says and I sit back and sigh. She begins to walks away but I quickly grab her wrist. She turns back.
"I-is she ok? Will she live?" I ask and the nurse sighs.
"I'm not aloud to talk about other patients with you. I'm sorry." She says.
"Just please! I won't tell anyone." I plead looking up at her.
"Sir." She stars sitting down and placing a hand on my shin. "She is in lung failure right now. She's in surgery, but if they aren't able to repair it, she might need a transplant, which mean she'll be put on the bottom of a list of hundreds to thousands of people waiting for new lungs. If it becomes urgent she can get pushed to the top but that rarely happens." She tells me and I grit my teeth together. I start shaking my head and she gives me a confused look.
"No." I say balling my fists. "NO! People come to my concerts to have fun and be safe! And this girl is dying! I can't believe this." I add looking down and putting my head in my hands.
"Sir-"
"Shawn." I cut her off.
"Shawn. This isn't your fault. The fire was a freak accident."
"I know, but it sure feels that way." I say before turning away.
(Haley's POV)
"So she's better now? No transplant?" I hear a farmhouse voice say.
"The surgery went perfect. We will watch her carefully, but I think she'll recover fully."
I open my eyes and see my mom standing next to a doctor. She turns to me then smiles.
"Hi honey." She says waking over and squeezing me tightly. I smile then squint my eyes pulling away.
"W-was it a dream?" I ask and she tilts her head.
"Was what a dream?" She asks.
"Meeting Shawn. Was it a dream?" I start before heading a curtain from next to me open.
"Nope. You met me." I turn to see Shawn Mendes laying in a hospital bed next to me. My eyes widen and I stare at him for a minute.
"You saved me." I smile and he chuckles.
"I wouldn't call it that." He says and I turn forward.
"Mom. Can you get me an iced tea please?" I ask her and she nods.
"Ok. Would you like anything sweetie?" She asks Shawn and he shakes his head.
"No thank you."
