Pick your Poison

     Today's the day. I pulled up my black cargo shorts and zipped up my green hoodie with the white stripe down the side. As I was about to leave my room I almost forgot it. The black hat with the pokeball on it that my dad gave me before he left for the Alola region. "Come on sweetie, your gonna be late." My mom shouted from down stairs. I slid down the spiral staircase and jump to the counter to find breakfast prepared for me already. 2 eggs, Toast, and some crispy hash browns. My favorite! Then it jumps onto the counter. I only dislike two things. People who are cocky and my mom's Purrloin. "Purrrrrloin." It hisses at me as it takes an egg from my plate and runs to its bed. "Stupid Cat," I grumble. "Don't worry you won't have to deal with her after today. You'll have you're own Pokemon to take care of in a little bit." I gulp down the last bit of hash brown and throw on my sneakers. I start sprinting towards my mom and hug her. "Have fun." She whispers into my ear. I nod and run out the door into the fresh air. I look up and see all the different Pokemon flying through the air, Swellow, Pidgeotto, Tranquill, even a few different pattern Vivillon. My neighbors, Rose and Chester are already outside the lab door tapping their feet. "You're late like always Michael." Chester complains. Before I can even react to Chester, Rose shouts "I can't wait any longer I'm going in." She stumbles over herself a few times before making it to the door and barges in. "She's as impatient as always I see." I sigh. "Yup she almost had a heart attack when she got here and saw she had to wait for you." Chester replies. "We should probably go in and check on her huh." I say. Then I see Chester walk in and say, "One step ahead of you already." I walk into the lab to see Rose on the ground with a cart tipped over next to her, and several pokeballs on the floor next to her. I walk over to lift the cart off of her and Chester pulls her to her feet. Many scientists pick up the pokeballs and place them very specifically on the cart. As they wheel them over one young assistant who looked to be about thirteen, our age, calmly waved us over to the other room. She introduced herself as Lori and from the way she acted I could immediately tell she was very Shy and modest. She told us the professor would be right with us and left the room. We were seated at a desk and there was a big comfy looking chair behind it that was probably the professors. The doors then swung open. A lady with brown hair pulled up into a big bun and Lori came in. "Hi I'm Professor Juniper, and you are?" She questioned. "Im Michael and this is Rose and Chester." I told her as I pointed at them. "Pleasure to meet you Rose said as she shook Juniper's hand. After Chester introduced himself Juniper looked at each of us and stated, "Potential. All three of you have potential." Simultaneously we racha said thank you. "Now that that's over we can get into the fun part. Choosing your partner. Each of theses pokeballs have a different Pokemon in it. I'm going to give you a list of every one." When I was givin the list I was shocked by all the options. It read

WATER
Squirtle, Totodile, Mudkip, Piplup, Oshawott, and Froakie

GRASS
Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treeko, Turtwig, Snivy, and Chespin

FIRE
Charmander, Cyndaquill, Torchic, Chimchar, Tepig, and Fenniken

OTHER
Eevee, Pichu, Ralts, Axew, and Togepi

Once I read the name of a certain Pokemon I knew that it was the one I wanted. I then handed the paper back to Juniper and picked up the pokeball containing the Pokemon I wanted and waited. Once Rose and Chester picked their Pokemon we decided to throw them out on the count of three. We all simultaneously said "One... Two... THREE!" I threw out my pokeball to find exactly the Pokemon I wanted. I looked over to Rose to see a Ralts hugging her feet. I saw Chester with a Bulbasaur. I crouched down on my knees and welcomed my new Pokemon with open arms. He flew right into them. I then immediately
knew me and my Mudkip were gonna be great, strong friends.
