Chapter 2

Max's POV

Ross came back into the house with a basket of eggs from the chicken coop outside and set it down on the counter.

I had come into the room to see how many eggs we got today.

"We got eggxactly 16 eggs!"

I Smiled yet looked angry at my bad pun at the same time.

"Oh don't EGGzagerate!"

We both chuckled for a bit

16 eggs, which was how old both me and Max were.

Max and I lived together with our friend Tim.

My Grandfather died a few years ago and I got this house.

We all sat down for dinner and I was cleaning up the kitchen and I heard something outside so I called the guys in here and Max got his pocket knife in his, well, pocket.

I walked up to the door and opened it and on the doorstep there was 3 boxes.

A gray one, a red one, and one blue one. All in a row.

We guessed who's box was who's and I got the red one since I was a redhead, Tim got the blue one because his shirt was blue, and that left Ross with the gray one.

We all sat down and Tim said "so should we open them?"

"Well duh why else would they be there?" I say.

So I open mine and I read a small letter on the top.

Dear Max, you have been chosen as one of the 10. You will be the ten of fire. Meet me in the woods (I wrote woulds I'm dying😂) and I will tell you what you will do next. For now, to accept put on the gift in the bottom of this box.

So I looked at the bottom of the box and there was a little necklace with a golden Z on it.

I looked up at Ross and Tim and they had the same shocked expressions on their faces.

Then we all said at the same time "IM IN THE 10!" We all stared at each other

"Which of the 10 are you? I'm the 10 of fire."

"I'm the 10 of Water." Ross said

"And I'm the 10 of Earth."

I picked up the necklace and said "look what I got!"

Then Ross held up a Red and yellow striped scarf and Tim held up a silver bracelet.

"So are we going to put them on?" Ross said, and I put on my necklace and it started to glow and Red swirls were all around me and then they faded.

"Ok what. Was. That." Tim said

"I-I think that's how you get your powers! Tim, Ross try it!"

And the same thing happened to them except Ross got gray swirls and Tim got blue swirls.

"So my letter said to meet the rest of the 10 in the woods!" Tim said

"Me too! Jinx! Double jinx! You owe me a soda! Jinx!" Me and Ross said at the same time until Ross won and now I owe him a rootbeer.

"So anyway let's go!" And we left the house with our boxes.
