It all begins here. My new life. My new life as a soon to be American and woman of the world, hopefully. I never thought my life would turn out the way it has. Me, Allegra Van Horn is going to be a passenger on the maiden voyage of Titanic. Never in my wildest dreams did I think it would be possible for an orphan girl like me to be able to be on the grandest ship in the world with the likes of some of the most important people in the world.

“Are you ready Allegra we must get going if we are to miss all the traffic from everyone coming on board?” My aunt asks of me with her blue eyes.

“Yes Aunt Amelia I am ready to go” Ready to start my new life that is.” Where is Uncle Allen and the twins Francis and Kathy?

“They have decided to go ahead without us. If it were not for your constant daydreaming then we would of already been on the ship.” Here we go again, more of Aunt Amelias' scolding, I know she wishes well but we all know I am a burden to her and Uncle Allen. From the very beginning we all knew that they could not properly take care of me. Uncle Allen was already working two jobs to support his family. I just became an extra mouth to feed. But him and my aunt still took me in which I am forever grateful.

“Please come this way! All passengers move away from the doors.”

“ I do not understand why they must yell. We can hear perfectly fine.”

“There is my darling wife and niece” I turn around and see Uncle Allen looking at me and Aunt Amelia with a smile on his face. It has been on his face since last week, when the travel plans were finalized. “Come we must go and get settled in before dinner.”

I have been imagining what the inside of the Titanic actually looks like. I heard that there are places where the paint is still wet, no one has slept on the sheets or used the fine china. The halls are magnificent pristine white walls with a red carpet covering the floor. The corridors never seem to end. It is as if dirt and grime is non-existent. It is like being inside a dream that you never want to end.

“Allegra this is your room, mine, your uncles and the twins is right next door. If you need anything let one of the stewards or stewardess know.” You are to accompany us to breakfast, lunch, dinner , church and anything else that will make it seem we are a family. I will have a someone come fetch you when it is time to do those things.” Even though Uncle Allen and Aunt Amelia have let me travel with them it does not mean I get to travel with them. They believe that since I am 17 I can manage on my own for about a week. I do not have a problem with that. I'm glad for the freedom I just wished they cared a little more for me.

“Of course Aunt Amelia. Thank you once again.”

“Your welcome oh, and Allegra please try to stay out of trouble while your on the ship.”

“Yes Ma'am.” I turn around and stare at this white door with a brass handle. The room number is 20. I put the key into the lock and turn the handle and walk into what looks like a palace. A floating palace. This is what Titanic is. Where dreams come true and hopefully where mine will come true.

After exploring my room for a little bit, I decided to take a nap. As soon my head hit the pillow I let the darkness consume me knowing that my dreams would be only about the Titanic and what I hope would happen while I am on this magnificent ship.
