*Newt's POV

I see Minho smile down at Chuck. I've seen him smile before but never like this. It's hard to describe what's different about it, it's almost like he was proud of Chuck. I'm glad to see him that happy, it's been a while since I've seen him like that. I rested my head on Minho's shoulder, and wrapped his arm around my waist. We sat like that for while, until Tommy came into the kitchen crying. "Mama!"

"Tommy, what's wrong?!" I said, as he ran to me. "The doors are gonna shut soon, and Alby ran into the maze, and hasn't come back yet." "What?!" Minho said, handing Chuck to me, standing up. "We told him not to go in, but he wanted to go." Tommy said, crying into my leg. "I'm going in after him." Minho stated, leaving the kitchen. "What?! You can't go in there." "Yes, I can. There is no way he's gonna survive the night alone out there." he said, getting his running gear. "I'm come with you." "No." "Why not?" "We both know why. You can't run very fast with your limp and someone needs to stay with the kids."

He was right, I wouldn't be able to keep up with him, and I can't leave the kids alone. Soon, Minho had all of his gear, and we where getting closer to the maze. Right before he went in, he turned to me.  "You're gonna come back, right?" I mumbled. "That's the plan." "Just be careful out there, okay?" "Okay, I have to go." Minho said, giving me a peck on the cheek and darting into the maze. I stood there watching him sprint deeper into the maze.

After a while I took Tommy's hand and started walking back towards the center of the glade. I tried my hardest to hold back tears, I need to be strong for the kids. "Mama, what's gonna happen to them?" Tommy asked, looking down. "I don't know, buddy. I don't know."  We walked until we reached the edge of the Deadheads and sat under one of the trees.

Tommy curled himself into my side and started to whimper. I pulled him tighter to my side and stroked his hair. Softly, I began to hum to him. "They'll be okay out there." "B..b..but what if they don't come back?" "Don't say that, they'll come back soon. How about we go make some dinner, so it will be warm when they come back?" He gave me slight nod.

We stood up and walked to the kitchen and I took Chuck out of his sling and placed him all the table, and made sure he couldn't fall off. I looked down at Tommy and said, "Can you go find Frypan for me sweetie?" because I have no idea how to cook.

Finally, Tommy came back with Frypan, and he luckily remembered how to cook, so he started making Mac and cheese. He did most of the work, he only trusted me slice the cheese. Chuck started to make a fuss, so I had to stop what I was doing and tend to him. I prepared him a bottle and began to feed it to him. When he finished that, I had to change his diaper, as I finished changing him, a low rumble filled the glade. 'Oh no! This can't be happening!' I scream in my head.

Quickly and carefully, I picked Chuck up and ran outside of the kitchen. The doors are closing and Minho and Alby aren't back. I look around and all the kids look confused and scare. Tommy starts crying, and holding onto me. This causes the other kids to start crying and running around. "Stay away from the doors!" I yell, to keep them out of the maze, "Everyone go to the house!" They all run, leaving Tommy, Chuck and I by the opening to the maze.

'No! He has to come back, he has to be right by the doors. Alby couldn't have gotten to far.' I think, starting to panic, 'I need to stay calm. He'll make it back." Just as I think this, the doors close and everything is silent. "Papa!" Tommy started to cry, running towards the now closed doors. "Tommy get back here!" I say, chasing after him. He stops at the doors and starts hitting them as hard as he can. By the time I get to him his knuckles are bloody and he is crying harder. I grab him and pull him into my chest and let him cry as long as he needs.

"Tommy, we need to get back to the house, everyone is waiting for us." "But Mama, Papa is still in there." "I know baby, but we can't do much here. Come on let's go back." I say moving the hair from his eyes. Tommy nodded a little and rubbed the tears from his red eyes, "Can you carry me?" "Okay baby." I say picking him up and carrying him back to the meeting house. 'I really hope that Minho and Alby will  be alright.'  I think to myself as we made our way back.

*I realized I haven't updated this story in like 3 years, so I'm going to try and update more to this story. Also I know this is a really long chapter and that it has a huge cliff hanger but i didn't know how else to end the chapter.
