Raven
Everything was prepared, the bow and arrows, the cape and the sneaky dagger used on anyone who tried to sneak up on me. Now all I had to do was wait for the sun to go down.

I was in my room, preparing and attaching the feather and red rose to my white arrow - the sign of the Albino, for my next target. The small sign of the albino meant so much more to me than anyone else, I don't know why I chose it, maybe for revenge, to scare others, to remind others of what happened. I closed my eyes, and let the tears from the memories glide down my cheeks, leaving cold trails of water. The salty taste reminded me of so much. It had been years since I remembered... But the memories seemed to have burned into my memory, leaving a long lasting scar, and the feeling of what I coward I was all those years ago...

It was winter.

The cold air whipped at our faces, as me and my sister ran through the woods. The snow glinting in the little sunlight that escaped through the branches.

We were running towards our secret place. Me and my sister hand in hand, laughing and being in the merry spirit. I missed those days. Of my childhood, of my sister, of my family and happiness.

The falling snowflakes pranced around us.
My sister giggling as she caught them on her tongue.

The forest was quiet, with only the sounds of  our giggles.

My sister ran ahead, flapping her arms, pretending to be a bird. We felt free in the forest, for only the trees and woods to here our joyful laughs and giggles.

We ran for ages, ignoring the few stings from branches and letting our feet sink into the snow.

Suddenly, I tripped, something grasping at my ankle. I looked over my shoulder to see that my leg had been tangled up in a rose bush. The small cuts from the thorns had drawn blood, and I watched the red liquid roll down my leg and  drip onto the snow, painting it Crimson.

I was shocked from the fall, and the fact that why would a rose be blossoming in the middle of winter? The forest went unusually quiet. Too quiet. The silence nerved me. And then it was followed by a scream.

I ran towards where the scream came from, with the images of why my sister was screaming. Such dreadful thoughts of what had happened to her let tears spring to my eyes, blurring my vision.
I neared to a clearing in the woods, to see a man in black holding my sister in a choke hold. He was also holding a knife to her throat. She was struggling, kicking, her screams muffled by a hand. I stood there helplessly, staring in shock at the scenery playing before me. The man was all in black meaning he was part of The Hunters. The hunters were men who would come to villages, rob them, kill the people, and then burn down their houses. They were the main nightmares, most parents would tell to their kids to scare them, but when they were alone, those nightmares were scary even to the adults...

The man looked up, meeting my stare, and without hesitation slit her throat, gliding the knife across in one swift motion.

The life in her eyes drained out like her blood.

Her body going limp as the red stain spread through the snow. She dropped to the ground, dead.

Like a coward, I ran, ran back home, with tears gushing down my cheeks. Coward.

But, as I neared towards our village, I saw a faint orange colour through the trees. I looked up to find the sky polluted with smoke. Slowing down as  I neared towards the houses, I gasped for air.

The young me watched the rest of the houses burn down to ashes, I heard the screams from my family members, friends, neighbours. Those voices staining my memories with the feeling of pain and sadness.

Once again, that day, I ran. Coward.

Merry Christmas, Raven.

Jon

Watching the sun go down through the window, I listened to Tom as he went over the plan. He made it sound so easy, but everyone knows that catching the albino was highly unlikely. The locals looked up to the albino, so mostly everyone avoided saying anything, well, except for the poor beggars that lied for a coin or two. I remembered there dirty appearances with the desperate look in their face, begging for a coin or some food. Guilt, swirled inside me..

"Jon, Jon?? Are you listening?" Interrupted tom. Tom knew we wouldn't be able to catch the Albino yet he had created a plan. Probably to impress my father.

"Rumours have said that the albino is targeting Sir Collins, in the marketing square...", said Tom while running a hand down his face, he was obviously stressed out as much as I was, "but can we trust these rumours? Are they true?".

"By now I don't know who to believe or trust..." I trailed off trying to end this awkward conversation. We had being searching for hours, asking for information or evidence of the albino, but it's as if he vanished into thin air.

"Tomorrow, we will go into the market and we will be near Sir Collins just in case, you wil-" I cut Tom off, by saying, "You think that us vs the albino can win?"

"Jon, you are the kings son, the prince, the head of intelligence, the best assassin-"

"Tom, firstly I am not the best assassin, also, I am not an assassin!"

"Okay, okay, best fighter..." Mumbled Tom, while rolling his eyes, "but you know what I mean."

I took a deep breath, thinking what we could do...

"Well, Jon what is your decision?"

"Post ten of our best spies or knights around the market giving him, no escape."

"Yes your highness." Bowed Tom, and smiling walked out the office.

I turned back to the window,

The sun had gone down, the darkness of night had come, my decision was final. There was a possibility to catch the albino, and we were going to have to take it, for none of us knew what the outcome would be... Nobles or traders had been killed, and my father wanted this to stop, otherwise our kingdom will fall. For some reason the feeling of doubt, settled in the pit of my stomache, making me slightly nervous. I was a good fighter, but was I as good as the Albino?
