Hi, my name's Khadija and I'm 22 years old. I am an Indian Muslim girl living in Liverpool. I studied for physio therapist at a school here in Liverpool but now that I'm graduated I am looking for a job. I saw an advertisement that said the football club liverpool FC was looking for a physio therapist for their players and this immediately caught my attention. So I sent a mail with my motivation to their e-mail not thinking they would ever send me back but guess what, I got the job!Well almost! They picked me out of a hundred people and I had to come to a job interview! This all was so exciting! I didn't even think they would accept me.
I didn't even know what to wear because it actually was my first ever job interview! I didn't do any jobs before this! I was so nervous!I decided to wear a black pair of trousers with a white blouse and some heels but not too high because that would give a bad impression. I also wore my headscarf. It was something I always did. I never came outside without it. It belongs to my religion and that was probably the thing I was most scared of. I didn't know they would accept a girl with a headscarf because nowadays they don't accept that anymore. Hopefully they will look at my skills and not the way I am or the way I look.
I looked in the mirror one more time taking a deep breath, ready to leave to the office of Liverpool FC. It was situated in the stadium itself.
I came off the stairs and saw my mum. I still lived by my parents. I didn't have enough money to live on my own because I didn't have a fulltime job but hopefully this is going to change now." you look amazing, my love."
" Thanks mum but I should probably go. I don't want to be late on my first job interview."
" Of course. I hope for you it's the first but also last job interview you will ever do. They should just accept you. You are so talented. And darling, don't be scared because of your headscarf. Look at me, I also have work and I'm still wearing my headscarf. They're not so strict when it comes to that believe me."
My mum assured me.
" Yeah mum but it wasn't so easy, right?"
" No but believe me, it will work out for you. I just have that feeling." She smiled.
" Thanks mum." I hugged her.
" well see you later."
" good luck!"
And then I left, hoping it would work out.About 2 hours later, I was back home.
The moment I opened the door, my mum stood there and said " and? How was it?"
" Good, I think. I mean they were a bit shocked at first when they saw me. I didn't think they expected this, although I said in my e-mail that I was a muslim girl but yeah they were really friendly and they said they would call me."
" well that's a good sign, isn't it?"
" I hope so mum but it does mean they still have to think about it."
" Oh come on Khadija, be a little bit more positive, will you? Just wait for it. There might still be other candidates."
" Yeah probably."
I hated waiting. I constantly had my phone with me, hoping they would call to make me happy. The next day I woke up by the sound of a phone ringing, not fully realising it was actually mine.
My eyes widened, all of sudden I was fully awake, when my mind came to the job interview. I quickly took my phone and saw a number. It could be them so I picked up.
" Hello with Khadija."
And guess what I was right. They called me to say that I am the new physio therapist of Liverpool FC. I couldn't be more happy! I called my mum to tell her, she was so happy for me and basically she was right.
So now that I am the new physio therapist of the players, I was kind of curious how these guys looked because to be honest I knew nothing of football. They all looked really hot to be honest so that might be a positive thing about my job.
Tomorrow will be my first day and I was so nervous for it. I just hoped I would do a good job.* next day *
Today was the day. My first work day at Liverpool FC. I have never been so nervous in my life. I got ready and jumped in my car.
I parked my car on the huge parking lot, I wasn't sure there was a parking lot for staff.
I entered the building and went to the office of the chairman. I knocked on the door.
"Come in" he said.
" Hi" I said.
" aaaah Khadija, you're here! Welcome. "
He explained me what I had to do and let me sign a few more documents so that it would be official and then he gave me a tour around the whole stadium and where my working place was.
" So that's basically it. I would say settle yourself and I will call u when the boys will arrive. They have training in half an hour so I will introduce you to them when there here and then you can begin your first day because there are some players with discomfort. So is everything clear?"
" Yes, cristal clear. Thank u. "
" you're welcome. See you later."I was setting everything on its place when someone knocked on the door.
" Come in"
" Khadija, the players have arrived. Are u coming?"
" Sure"
" The boys don't always train in the stadium itself. They have a training ground a bit further where you also have all the equipment you can use so we always let you know where the guys train. They're getting a training schedule every week so you will also have one."
" Okay that's great."
" So here it is. The football field."
" Wow, it's really big."
" You've never been here?"
" actually no. I'm not really familiar with football but that can change of course."
" Well, you are living in the world of football right now so you will get used to it." He laughed.
The boss was actually pretty cool. It was a happy person while I expected an angry old man but fortunately that's not the case.
" The players will be here in a bit. They're changing at the moment."
" Okay, no problem."
I was actually quite nervous to meet them. Maybe they would look weird at me or not like me at all. It were all negative thoughts and also there are some big and famous players playing here even if I don't know much about them. While thinking about all these stuff, I was getting back to reality when the boss said: " here they are"
One by one they came on to the field.
They were all staring at me because they had never seen me before.
" This is the coach, Jürgen Klopp. Jürgen, this is Khadija. She is the new physio therapist of our players."
" Hi, it's nice to meet you." He shook my hand.
" Nice to meet you too."
" Alright guys. You are probably all thinking who this girl is."
They nodded.
" this is Khadija. The new physio therapist of the team."
They were all saying " nice to meet you" in unison and went on to the field to train, except for 1 person.
" Okay Khadija. This is your first client. Emre Can. Our midfielder. He has a discomfort on the knee so I guess you know what to do."
" I do."
I said while staring at the guy standing in front of me. He was goddamn handsome. I recognized him because I looked them up on the internet yesterday but in real life he was so much hotter.
With his perfect lips he opened his mouth and said in a way too adorable smile: " Hi, I'm Emre. How are u? It's nice to meet you."
This was going to be a nice first day of work.
