CHAPTER 1
Frost's POV
Leafs and mildew pass me by in an impossible blur, animals scurry and hide at my approach, the sky a blue mist in the mornings glow. The sence of freedom never felt more real than this moment. No more cages, no more darkness. I was free! And there was no way in hell i was ever going back to that hole!
I was nearing a pack's territory, a million scents filled my nose. Five of the scents were fresh. The hairs on the back of my neck stood tall, a silent warning i was nearing danger. The air became damper, the grass became more moist, the sound of a river could be heard in the not so far away distance and further in the distance a waterfall came crashing down.
Moving away from the path where the scents lead i make my way down towards the river. Green moss hung on every tree and stone, pointing north towards home. Old man's beard grew on some of the older pine trees, while the newer trees grew their yearly pine cone's. A lone duckling waddled by seeming to be lost, with not a seconds hesitation i picked up the duckling and brought her towards her mother's scent.
I was saddened by what i came across. At the bank of the river lay the mother duck, feathers all matted with dried blood, and teeth marks all over the damaged body. Five little duckling bodies lay next to her in a bloodied mess, most beyond recgonistion. The male duck stood by her side quacking as loud as he could, almost in a panicy tone. It almost sounded as if he were saying "help, help, someone please help". The small duckling i held gently between my teeth gave a small little quack.
Gently and ever so hesitant i knelt down and placed the duckling on the ground, and watched her make her way towards her father. While i was knelt down my nose picked up a scent. It was a scent a female wolf would be able to pick up anywhere, wolf cubs, and not just any wolf cubs but Alpha wolf cubs.
A low growl made its way up my throat as i watch the duckling and her father make their way to the gentle waters of the river. To think these wolves had no respect for nature, what kind of pack was this? Mentally i shook my head.
I found a nice shaded area under a young tree, and began to dig. The hole was a decent size round and just right. Slowly i made my way back over to the bloody mess, and gently picked up the mother duck, and gently placed her in my hole. I then went back for the five little ducklings, and gently placed them in a small semi circle around their mothers feet. With a sigh full of sorrow i began the task of burying them, making sure to make it look as natural as possible to hopefully avoid the attention of other animals.
When i was done with my task, i knelt my nose in front of the small grave and willed my spirit forward, knitting in my mind a protective shield and barrier. i opened my eyes just in time to see flower upon flower pop up and spread around the base of the young tree.
With a little skip in my step i made my way to the river, and began to lap at the water. Ripples swirled around my tongue as the cool refreshing water made its way down my throat. As i stopped the water stilled and my reflection came into view, my pure white fur was alive in the sun light. Little speckles of blood were on the tip of my nose, with a paw i removed the blood as fast as i could.
A strong pine and mid spring shower scent washed over my face and into my nose. Across the river on the oppisite bank, on top of the hill stood a proud wolf. His fur a nightshade black, glistened in the sunlight. His scent once again washed over my face as another swirl of wind ruffled through the trees.
From where i am standing he doesnt seem to see me, or smell me yet. Closing my eyes i once again will my spirit forward to shield my scent from this mystery wolf. Turning around i make my way back towards the path and pick up my speed.
It wasnt long before i crossed over into the pack's territory that three wolves fell in behind me. My heart was pounding from the excitement of being chased, and decided to have a little fun with them.
Bending my hind legs i jumped onto the tree closest to me and started climbing with my hind legs spread and front paws spread, nails extended helping me to climb up the tree into the branches. Once on my designated branch i glance down at the three wolves and flash a wolfy grin down at them.
I start jumping from branch to branch from tree to tree and soon have gotten far ahead of the wolves. Jumping down into a clearing i swish my tail happily back and forth, proud of myself that i avoid being captured.
'You mean we, it was my idea to use the tree's,' my human retorted inside my head. Oh yeah i forgot to mention i am not just any kind of wolf, i am a werewolf. I spend most of the day cooped up inside my human's head, until she let's me free, then it is her turn to be cooped up. Ha see how she feels about that. 'i heard that.'
I growl at her deep in my throat letting her know i am frustrated with her.
It wasnt until then that i noticed I was being surrounded. Wolves started coming from behind every tree, trapping me in the centre of the clearing. A few of the wolves growled with their hackles up, sending me warnings to stay put. Male's stood at the front of the line, backed up with a second line of female's.
'See what you got us into?' i growl at my human, 'If you hadnt have said anything i wouldnt have gotten distracted.'
'What i've done?? Oh no dont you go pinning this on me, this one was all you.' My human then becomes silent as she waits for what is surely to come.
A tall blonde boy about the age of my human steps out of the circle. He stops about five feet away from me, being uncomfortable with the distance i take a step back, He hesitates and decides its a good idea to stay put. 'Good a smart choice.' my human comments.
It is then that i notice the blonde boy is stark nude. His well toned muscles froming a V at his hips. quickly i avert my eyes to gaze at the surrounding pack members.
A tan female wolf walks towards the boy with a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. he quickly puts the shorts on and then looks at me with a serious expression.
"I am Aaron, third in command of the MoonLight Sun Pack, son of the Moon Goddess. Please shift so we may have a more.....humane conversation," He said with a side grin. He then tosses me the t-shirt.
I give him a questioning look and then decide i might as well show this pack i mean them no harm. Trotting over to a tree, i growl at the few males that were hovering there (they were still in their circle), and walked behind the tree.
Pure bliss followed by a shot of pain as my bones resembled to their original places i let my human forth, and welcome the darkness.
