It had only been a week and Mauve was still locking herself up. The therapist didn't help. He just made it worse. Mauve couldn't take it anymore. All of the people at school acting like they were her friend. She hated the pity. All of these kids had bullied her. Why did they suddenly care that her mom died?
"Mauve?", called Max.
"Yeah?"
"Can I come in?"
"Go for it."

As Max entered her room she noticed he had something in his right hand, but didn't give it much attention. She figured it was probably something for the oil rig.

"Hey."
"Hi Max."
"Listen, I know its been hard. I'm working extra hours just to pay off the house. And when I do, we will move somewhere away from here. I know it hurts. I'm right there with you. But I wanted you to come home so quickly, because, well... I want you to be my daughter. Legally."
"Really?"

Mauve was happy. She jumped up and gave Max a big hug. Despite the fact that her mom had died, she smiled. She finally had a dad. A real dad.
