" Mom !" I yelled upon hearing the news. My face flushed with anger as I gripped the handle of my luggage harder.
My flight to Korea was in an hour's time, only then did I learn that I'll be heading over on my own. I'd just finished my major exams when my mom decided to visit Grandma Lee, unlike the annual visits in June as I was mugging constantly.
Grandma Lee is my maternal grandmother and she lives in Seoul, a place I visited often as a kid. Although I was elated to see her, the news of my mom staying behind ticked me off. She'd always put work first, and neglected everything else.
"Everything I do is for the family, " Mom told me sternly. She smoothed the crinkles on my sleeves as she continued, " Grandma Lee's got everything settled, don't make things hard for her okay. "
Mom pulled me into a hug and whispered I love you. Before watching me check in for my flight.
