Me: Can someone tell me what seems wrong about this class right now?
One of the females raises her hand. I gesture to her.
Me: What is your name?
Female: My name is Mika, sir.
Me: Interesting name. Okay, Mika, what seems wrong about this class right now?
Mika: Isn't there someone that's not here?
Me: Correct. Now, as odd as this is, this just so happens to go along with my lesson plan for today. What is the missing classmate's name?
Another female raises her hand.
Me: Your name is?
Female: Casey, sir.
Me: Okay, Casey, what is your classmate's name, the one that's not here?
Casey: Well, Cassidy isn't here of course.
I see Mika's eyes flash angrily as Casey answers. I make a mental note.
Me: Very good, Casey, that's correct. Now, class, for the lesson. For the first half of class, I will be testing each of you to see how much better you've gotten on Fire, Ice, and Aero. Then, for the second half of class, I'll teach you how to build your mind-reading skills.
Casey smirks when I say that, and I make another mental note. Then, I test each person and see that they've gotten better already on all three spells. I congratulate them, and I tell them to sit down.
Me: Now it's time to teach y'all how to mind-read. May I have two volunteers please?
Casey and Mika put their hands up at the same exact time, so I sigh and gesture for them to step forward.
Me: Now, Casey and Mika, I will attempt to penetrate both of your minds at the same time. What I want y'all to do is attempt to shield your minds. Try not to let me through. Now, the rest of you need to stay seated and just relax your minds. Relax your minds, and let them reach out, but keep them ready to reel in at any time, kind of like they're on a leash. Begin. Casey and Mika, guard your minds now.
Right after I say this, I send my mind out to Casey and Mika simultaneously. I see their minds are already highly guarded, and I'm surprised and impressed. Then, I go to work.
