⚜After getting back to Avengers Tower⚜
Vanessa's POV
Furry has a hold of my shoulders, forcing me down steps, into the living room. I sigh, stop, and do a 180 degree turn in his hand. The sudden turn causing his hands to switch shoulders. This move caused Fury to raise an eyebrow at me. "Before I answer your questions, is there a place I can put my son? I have a feeling it's going to get really loud in here." I say, tilting my head to the side, glancing at him, then the others.
Natasha steps forward with a small smile on her face. "I can take him to your room, there's already a crib in there for him." She says, stepping forward. I hesitate, watching the master assassin. I look into her eyes and notice a small look of longing, as well as a protective fierceness that only a mother would have.
I nod, gently placing Gabriel in her arms. "His name is Gabriel, be very careful please." I reply to the red headed assassin. She nods her head and hurried toward the elevator, toward my room I'm guessing. After she left we all take a seat, waiting for her return. Not 10 minutes later she's back, with a smile smile still on her face. Huh.
I clear my throat about to say something when Fury rounds on me. "Where the hell have you been?" He yells at me, throwing a file on the table in front of me. I pull it toward me, seeing pictures of me from before I left. I push the file back toward him, barely noticing Tony pull it toward him and Steve before Fury can reach it. I don't care anymore, let them know. Let them place me on the list. Me being me, and my crazy upside down mind, I reply with as much sarcasm and sass as I could muster with a growing headache. "Riding a llama in Neverland to visit your pirate cousin. Where do you think?" I growl, crossing my legs in front of me. At this reply, Tony gave a slight snort that was cut off by Steve hitting his arm.
Fury sighs, sitting back in the chair before he suddenly looks at the elevator doors, then at me. I think it just clicked in his head. My son. Hydra would kill to get their hands on my baby, they almost did. I didn't blink once at their dead bodies. I mean, a baby born from a spy who was also a double agent, and a woman who can manipulate time, matter and energy. "Fury, believe it or not, I never left New York." I say, leaning onto my knees, looking him in his eye.
Fury looks like he believes me, I'm even telling the truth for once on this one. Tony takes that moment to look up at my with wide eyes, like he's never seen me before. I look him right in the eyes and cock my head to the side. "No way. Not possible. But... That would mean..." I blink, trying to guess what he read. Tony suddenly gets up, heading for what I would guess is the lab, where Bruce has probably been hiding out this whole time.
"Ok then, um, did you guys happen to find an USB drive on me when you scanned me?" I ask, reaching for my pocket, feeling it empty. Fury seems to come back to life at that, reaching into his pocket, holding it up. I nod and stand up, feeling drained. "Don't ask how I got this information Fury, just do what you can with it. Now, if you'll excuse me. I'm tired, sore, dirty, and have a baby to feed. Can someone lead me to my room?" I ask, looking at Steve.
I see him swallow, smiling quickly, "yeah, I can." He replied, standing, walking toward the elevator. I smile, stepping in right before the doors close. We ride in silence till he pushes the emergency button, stopping the elevator. I hear Jarvis come on above us, "do you require assistance, Captain? Mrs. Vandal?" He asks, making Steve shake his head. "No, I just need to talk to Mrs. Vandal for a moment. Alone, Jarvis." Steve adds, making me laugh a little bit. I hear a click, and all sound stops.
I turn to look at Steve with a raised eyebrow. "I just wanted to say, thank you, you had my back out there." He rushes out, all in one breath, looking nervous. I place a hand on his arm, smiling even bigger, "it's fine Steve, anyone could have done it. I'm no superhero, I just try to make life go a little more smoothly by lending a hand every now and then." I say, squeezing his huge bicep a little bit. Dang, he has some real muscle in there. Made of what though, concrete?
I lean back, pushing the emergency button again, starting the elevator. I step out, following after Steve to a door. "I guess this is me, well, I'll talk to you later I guess." I say, looking into his blue eyes. I look down blushing before I quickly slid into my room, closing the door quickly. But not before I hear him whisper, "goodnight Vanessa."
I look around, seeing the room for the first time sense entering. A king size bed with a dark purple and black covers, bedside tables in silver and purple, two person walk in closet, a two person bathroom, and more. Last, but not least, a silver crib, where Gabriel lays. With a smile, I head to the closest, to see if there are any clothes inside. I smile, seeing a pair of sweats and a tank-top. I pair them with cozy boots and a hoodie. I take a quick, shower, pulling Gabriel in with me after he woke up to the noise of water. Hearing his giggles brings a smile to my face. I almost lost him today.
I pull him out, drying us both off. I dress him up in a blue onesie and place him on the bed, quickly getting dressed. I pull the rocking chair out from against the wall before taking a seat. Feeding my son, or when he's sleeping, is the only time he's every quiet. I start to sing a little nursery song, but I sang it in Latin. I try and speak as many languages around him as possible.
"Hush, little baby don't say a word, Mama's gonna buy you a mockingbird. And if that mockingbird don't sing, mama's gonna buy you a diamond ring. And if that diamond ring turns brass, mama's gonna buy you a looking glass. And if that looking glass broke, mama's gonna buy you a billy goat. And if that billy goat won't pull, mama's gonna buy you a cart and bull. And if that cart and bull turn over, mama's gonna buy you a dog named Rover. And if that dog named Rover won't bark, mama's gonna buy you a horse and cart. And if that horse and cart fall down, you'll still be the sweetest little baby in town."
I finish the song, switching him to the other side. Suddenly, a knocking sound comes from the door. "It's unlocked," I say, pulling my hoodie over my chest, blocking them from being scarred for life. Steve pokes his head inside the door and stops at the sight.
Stevie's POV
I walk down the hall way, finally heading to my room after hitting the gym real quick. I start to pass Vanessa's door when I hear a voice, a beautiful voice, singing a child's nursery rhyme, but in what I think might be Latin. I knock quietly on the door when she stops singing, hoping I didn't wake the baby up. "It's unlocked," I hear, after a few seconds. I open the door and look around it, pausing at what I saw. My eyes widen, she's, feeding her baby. Wrong time to complement her singing skills. Abort mission, abort mission, I mentally yell at myself. I blush, and look away from her, trying to come up with an apology. I hear movement and look to see her placing Gabriel in his crib, laying a blanket over him. She turns, crabbing her hoodie and fixing her shirt as she walks toward me.
Vanessa's POV
I grab my hoodie and fix my shirt while I walk toward Steve. I slip on the hoodie, but don't zip it closed. I look him in his face, seeing his blush, he's embarrassed. Omg, he's so cute. "Something I can do for you Steve?" I ask, tilting my head to the right. "No..I was just wondering... would you like to practice with me tomorrow. You know? Train??" He asks, his face now going completely red." I would understand if you didn't want to. So you can spend more time with your son. You also just started to heal." He rushes. He's sweet when he's embarrassed. Like a lost golden retriever puppy. Awwww. "No, it's ok, I think, if I ask, Natasha would love to watch him, and he's still really young, not much of a hassle. He will be when starts walking tho." I reply to his questions. "Great, I can't wait. Oh, and I'm so sorry, if I had known that you were-" I cut Steve off, a smile on his face. "It's ok Steve," I say, patting his arm. I step back, inside the doorway, giving Steve a small smile, "5:45 am for training? That ok" Steve asks me, giving me a smile of his know. "Goodnight Steve," I say, closing the door again. "Goodnight Vanessa"
