He stood before me, a blushing smile on his lips. My heart raced as if me myself was running. He clutched my hand in his. Through his fingertips I could feel a similar beating heart. The world seemed to still and silent even as my mind rushed. I ran my thumb against my ring finger and then the dress and back to my finger. Killian pushed a lock of hair, that had fallen from the pins, behind my ear with his hook. The only sounds I could make out were mumbled words that scattered in my brain.
"You may now kiss the bride." Killian pulled me close placing his hand on my head and his hook on my waist. I placed both my hands on either side of his face, giving him a warm, blushed smile. He leaned his head to mine, our lips so close the his breath played on my lips. A crash, like the sound of a building collapsing or a bomb of some sort pulled me from the trance. A curse. It must be. I pulled back from Killian lifting my dress above my ankles and running to the chapel's door. I pulled the handle of the door with all my force but I only opened it enough to catch my foot, pushing the door back with my leg and shoulder.
"Swan!" Killian yelled. I turned to see him still standing at the alter. This was the first time I'd seen him in a suit and tie. I turned back to the door continuing to investigate the noise. To the north the sky had already filled with black clouds. This was unlike any curse this town had experienced before. Behind me half the church had made their way to the streets. Regina met my side.
"Gold," she whispered, shaking her head.
"What is it?" I asked her. She was the closest to Gold's magic even if she was no longer the Evil Queen.
"Forget me curse. It's similar to the one I used in creating Storybrooke," she spoke now as she paced running her hands through her hair.
"What's wrong, Regina?" I knew that look. "We can break the curse right?"
"When I cast my curse we had you and Henry and my curse wasn't nearly as strong as this one. We don't have anyone outside the town now." She continued to pace before she straightened her path toward the town line. She quickened her pace as I followed her, keeping my dress out from under my heels. David and Snow followed. We met the cracked line of the town's border. Regina motioned towards the line.
"Anyone?" She said asking for a volunteer to cross the line. "Now or never." She pointed at the darkening sky. I took a step forward my heels colliding with the blacktop. I stepped to where my toes of my left foot touched the line. A lightning bolt struck the street as thunder boomed and shook the ground. I tried once more with the same effect.
"I'm guessing leaving is not option," I said turning back to Regina. I hadn't seen Killian yet even as I scanned the crowd. I know he's upset with me for leaving but I couldn't have stayed not with the town in its current state. All that was left was waiting the curse out. We couldn't stop it, we couldn't prevent it.
