I was a disappointment to my family... they all thought I was... crazy, insane. But the only person who believes me at all is my sister.

She stood beside me, believing me when I told her my secret. One night, I had a nightmare that our mother was going to get in a terrible accident at the crossroads near the creek that we go to during the summer. When I begged mom not to go, just to wait a few minutes longer before leaving, my father slapped me across the face, saying I was a liar and that I was crazy in the head.

The next day, there was an announcement in the paper about an accident that happened at the crossroads like I said. My father said that it was a just an accident, that it happens all the time. I didn't like my dad, he was a drunken man and a liar and an abusar.

A month had passed and I had another dream....my mother was going to die before she even gets back from work. I ran to the phone and tried to warn mom, but my father stopped me. He slapped me repeatedly while I screamed that mom was in danger... I had to warn her, now. So I ran, my mom's job wasn't far so I had to hurry. When I got to the factory, people were screaming... oh no, mom! I ran inside, ignoring the glares I got from everyone. When I got to my mother, I saw it, she was gonna slip and fall. I rushed up the stairs, running... running. When she slipped, I grabbed her hand with my small ones. " Mom, don't let go, hang on!" " Mary, I'm slipping! " " No! Mom, please hang on! Someone help me please! " That's when it happened... the vision was coming true, but... she would have died either way. I saw people rushing to my mom's aid. She looked at me with loving eyes and said, " I love you, and I love your sister... so much ".... and it was too late. I tried.... I tried to save her... i tried everything I could to save her, but instead... I sat there, crying my eyes out as my mother lay there... lifeless, never moving. People sat by me, trying to comfort me in my loss.

So I'm here, two years later... still stuck in this stupid asylum... my father thought I was crazy and blamed my mom's death on me... he said that she died because of me. I never said a word... silence filling my soul.

One day, this nice man came to me... he had dirty blonde hair, a sweet smile and... red eyes. " Hello, I'm James... what's yours? " James must have been the janitor of the asylum. " Mary Alice, but my sister called me Alice. " He smiled and gave me a candy bar. " But, I thought we weren't allowed to..."

" it's a gift for you. I know we're going to be good friends Alice." He smiled at me and I smiled back. " I'll be back later, and we can play a game... how's that sound?" " Sounds fun... and, thanks for being nice to me. " With a hug goodbye, he left.

James and I had spent a lot of time together... he was an amazing friend when no one else would even look my way. He understood how I felt and what I was going through. I had told him how I've been seeing things... things that would happen the next day; how people would laugh at me, call me a waist of life, that I was... nothing. He thought that I was gifted, that I was special and deserved better than this. " I can help you Alice. " My face lit up with excitement, " how? " He smiled, " I can take you away from this awful place, would you like that? " I smiled at him, then thought for a moment. " But... how? " " Can you keep a secret? " I shook my head yes. " Well... just don't be afraid, but... I'm a... vampire. " I looked at him, my eyes filled with many emotions.

" Umm... then, why didn't you kill me? " He sighed, "cause I see that you're special Alice... you can be free. No more suffering... no one telling you you're a waist of life. " He looked at me with kind eyes, " do you trust me? " He caressed my cheek, stroking it gently. My voice was shakened, but I gave my answer with confidence... " y-yes " " and why do you trust me? " " because... it's ment to happen...... I've seen it. " He smiled then. " I will change you after your 18 birthday, deal? " " deal. "

And right there... I knew I was going to regret my words.
