"Kat," Four tugged on one of her friend's long red curls.
"What is it Four? I'm busy." Kat said hurriedly, stuffing another Ziplock bag of chocolate chip cookies from the table into her purse.
"Dragon's looking at you again." Four grabbed Kat's purse out of her hand. "And stop binge eating cookies! That's my job."
"He is?" Kat stiffened, her back straightening. Four slid her gaze over slightly behind her to look at the boy leaning against the wall. Some of Four and Kat's friends were over there too, but Dragon wasn't listening to them. He had a small smile on his face and was looking over at Kat. He noticed Four looking at him and dropped his gaze to his shoes, his face flushing pink.
"He was," Four said. "He's blushing now. I caught him looking at you, and he knows it."
A shy smile crossed Kat's lips and she turned, grabbing Four's wrist. "Do you think you could talk to him for me?"
"For God's sake, Kat!" Four crossed her arms, taking her wrist out of the redhead's grasp. "You haven't talked to him since you told me you liked him. You're not gonna get any closer to him if you ignore him. Plus, it's obvious he likes you too."
"It... is?" Kat looked at her shoes, tapping the toe of her black converse on the ground a few times.
"Oh my fu-" Four ran a hand through her hair, resisting the urge to punch a wall. "Kat, no boy would spend so much time staring at you when he knows you're not looking if he doesn't like you."
"Are you sure?" Kat bit her tongue, knowing the question would send her friend over the edge.
"YES I'M FUCKING SURE!" Four yelled, throwing her hands in the air. Her face flushed when she noticed the people looking at her and she pulled down the bottom of her hoodie. "Look, Kat, he likes you. You like him. Just go talk to him."
"Four, I can't!" Kat protested, pushing her glasses up the bridge of her nose slightly.
"Yes. You. Can." Four said. She snapped the hair tie on her wrist before whipping her hair back in a messy ponytail. She heaved Kat's purse over her shoulder. "I'm going to go home and eat these cookies. I can't be at this social gathering anymore today. If you want to get anywhere with Dragon today, you have to do it tonight."
(That's actually true. If I'm around too many people for too long I will get out of there as fast as I can. ^^)
"Four-" Kat pleaded.
"Nope," Four cut her friend off. She started walking away, putting two fingers in the air as a peace sign as she left. "Peace. I'm gettin' my ass some cookies and Netflix."
"Fourrrrrr." Kat growled, clenching her fists and watching the brunette girl disappear from view.
"Uh, Kat?" Kat whipped around when she felt a tap on her shoulder. She felt her cheeks warm slightly when she saw Dragon's familiar face behind her.
"O-oh," Kat's lips turned in a mess, not knowing whether to panic or smile. She moved her messy red curls out of her face. "Hey Fire-kun."
Dragon looked nervous, running a hand through his hair. "I kinda n-need to tell you something."
Kat brought a pink painted nail to her mouth, nibbling on it. She realized the habit and quickly put her hand down, spreading her fingers on the skirt of her dress. "And that is?" She said quietly, trying not to let her voice shake.
"I.. sorta... like you, I guess? Is that the right word?" Dragon stuffed his hands in the pockets of his jeans. "Oh God this is awkward..."
"Uh... it's okay." Kat smiled, twisting her hands together in front of her waist. "Cuz I... I kinda like you... too." Kat laughed nervously.
"Oh... oH. OH." A smile spread across Dragon's face. "T-that's great."
Kat's face matched the shade of her hair. Dragon's hand darted over to her, grabbing her hand and gently holding it.
Kat laughed into her hand, before the two walked over to their friends to enjoy the rest of the party, hand-in-hand.
