Ok you guys so I'm going to start with one of the main parts of this story and that has to do with all of the characters. I will try to make this as accurate as possible and if I offend anyone I am deeply sorry, I'm trying my best. I know I get pissed when people don't treat mental illnesses with the respect they deserve (mainly because I have multiple), and so I will try to portray physical disabilities with the most respect and accuracy as I can.
"And breathe in". Aikato did as his therapist said and took a deep breath in, filling his lungs with as much oxygen as he could. The therapist waited a few seconds and then told him to breathe out again. Aikato pushed all the air back out of his lungs, sputtering a bit as he did it. The therapist looked at her watch. "Alright what do you say, should we try for one more" she asked. "But we already did siiiiixxxx" Aikato whined. The therapist just chuckled at his childishness. "Alright we can be done for the day" she said. Aikato got up and grabbed his things and made his way to the door. "I'll see you again on Friday bud" she said. Aikato waved goodbye and met his mom back out in the lobby. "How'd it go" she asked.
"Good, he got through six cycles and was able to run for one minute this time." He was also able to do two minutes on the bike" she said. Aikato's mother smiled. "That sounds amazing!" "It is good but we did have one setback today" she said. "He only got five reps on the weight today and had to catch his breath for almost a minute." "Alright well thank you" Aikato's mom said. "We'll see you back Friday" she said as the two left. Aikato's mom drove him to school where she dropped him off at the front door and he walked into the front office. He handed his note to the secretary and went off to class. As he was walking down the hallway he saw the same boy from the hallway yesterday, the one in the wheelchair and his friend with the black hair, coming out of a classroom. The boy noticed him and waved.
"Hi there!" he said. Aikato nervously waved back. He looked around, trying to find any excuse to get away and escape back to some solitude. "H-hi there" he said and extended his hand to shake, as he realized the girl had wheeled the boy right up to him. The girl grabbed his wrist- hard. "Ow ow ow OW" Aikato shouted. The boy playfully swatted her hand. "Hey, play nice" he joked. She let go and Aikato recoiled, rubbing his wrist. The boy looked back to Aikato. "She's just very protective of me" he explained. The boy leaned in closer. "But sometimes it's kind of annoying" he said in a whisper just loud enough for her to hear. She rolled her eyes.
"Yeah you'll find it real annoying when you wind up downtown and someone decides to go for your arms". He smiled "Yeah yeah, it's not like I ever go down there anyway." A loud bell signaled their meeting had come to an end. "Well I'll see ya" he said. Then he looked to the other end of the hallway an pointed. "Eve- ONWARD!" Eve smacked the back of his head and wheeled him along to his next class. Aikato watched the two of them disappear down the hall until heading off to his own class.
Heads turned up from their desks as Eve wheeled Moho into his classroom. "Hello yello!" he greeted. The teacher looked up from the work on his desk. "Hello Mohori, please take your seat" said the teacher. Eve wheeled him over to his space and he tugged on the small red lever on the side of his wheelchair to keep it from rolling away. The teacher came by and handed him a clipboard with a worksheet on it to Moho. "Just practice from yesterday" the teacher said as he walked back to his desk. Moho looked back to Eve who gave a slight wave as she started to leave. "See ya" she said and she left the room.
When the bell rang, Moho waited patiently for Eve to come and get him. The sound of footsteps closing in got him excited, but his excitement was quickly doused when another teacher walked through the door. "Hey Mr. A" he said. Mr. Alletesto said hello and made some small talk with Mohori before heading over to the other teacher to speak with him. In the middle of their conversation, Eve finally walked in the room. "Sorry I'm late" she said, grabbing the handles on the back of the wheelchair. "My teacher held me up because I didn't finish my work. Moho smiled at her as he flicked the brake lever back on his wheelchair and the two of them left the classroom, leaving only Moho's teacher and Mr. A.
"He's a good kid" said Mr. A as he watched the two of them leave. The other teacher nodded in agreement. "He's always smiling when I see him, I can't imagine how he's really feeling though." Mr. Alletesto turned to the other man. "What do you mean?" The other teacher looked at him. "W-well I mean, the kid can't walk like the rest of us- I mean I'm not saying that's a problem- well I mean it is but not because he's disabled it's just because-" Mr. Alletesto put his hand up and the other teacher shut his mouth. "Just get to the point Akira" he said. Akira sighed loudly. I just mean that its kind of unbelievable how cheerful he is all the time, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me". Mr. A looked at the other man thoughtfully.
"Well I think it's because he's come to accept the fact that he has limitations and there are things that he can and cannot do" he started. "But he knows that despite all of this, he'll still do what he wants because he's aware of the fact that he can't change it and he isn't going to let it stop him." "O-oh" was all Akira said. Mr. A reached passed him and grabbed a paper on his desk. "Anyway thanks for filling this out for me, I'll see you tomorrow" he said. Akira stood and stared as Mr. A left the room and headed home.
Well I finally FINALLY finished this. I'm sorry if the information in here was inaccurate, I'm trying. I hope you'll continue to read future chapters and comment about anything you want to see!
