Recap:

"

Wait. Don't go!" I didn't realize that he was so close behind me. He grabbed my arm and turned me around putting his hands on my face. "You don't have to run." He was looking into my eyes. I was looking into his eyes. He moved his hands from my face to around my shoulders pulling me into a hug. "Never be ashamed of telling people anything that you have told me tonight." He was stern in his tone of voice, it almost sounded like he was mad, but the look on his voice was telling me that it wasn't with me.

When he pulled away he moved down and kissed me on the lips. I kissed him back. It was gentle and for some reason, it felt so right. Whether or not I knew his last name or that I hadn't known him for more than two hours.

Now:

We were getting looks. I mean I don't blame them. We were in a busy train station, I was running away from him when he grabbed me.

"Are you okay sweety?" It was a little old lady walking with a little floral suitcase. She gave Damon a nasty look.

"Yes thank you for asking," I said barely looking away. I turned towards the woman only to see that she was no longer there. "Was she really there or was that a figment of my imagination?"

"No, I think that she is just the fastest moving little old lady in the universe." We both cracked up as he turned to look around trying to find her. She was nowhere to be seen.

"I should probably make that phone call real quick. I will be right back." I went to walk away before realizing that we were still attached at the hands. I tried pulling my hand out of his but he just tightened his grip.

I turned back to look at him, "promise you aren't just weirded out and trying to leave?"

I didn't have a response so I just went up onto my tiptoes and kissed him again. It was much faster this time around and I pulled away before it could get any more intimate. He nodded before letting go of my hand. I walked just outside the door of the station pulling my phone out of my pocket.

"Hey, Grandma," I spoke when I heard the click on the other side of the line.

"Hey, sweetie. Whats up?" Her voice was thick with concern and sadness.

"My train has been delayed until the morning. I was gonna drive down and try to make it early tomorrow, but from the looks of things the storms are pretty bad here and I don't know if I will make it on time."

"Yeah, they are pretty darn terrible here too. Listen, sweetie, just wait for your train tomorrow. I don't want you driving in this. The rain is so bad you cant see two feet in front of you. We are holed up in a hotel just outside of Austin. Folks are saying that it could be a couple of nights before the rain stops. I guess we will just see. If we have to wait a few weeks then we have to wait. There is no sense injuring yourself just to get down here." She sounded somewhat distant but at the same time, I could hear the concern in her voice. We hadn't been close since a couple of months before the accident because of some dinner that I missed because of a school function. Our relationship had been slowly improving. I think that she started to understand that I was feeling much of the same things that she was.

I must have zoned out for too long because when I pulled my phone away to check the time, she had already hung up. Rude.

I turned around and walked back into the building.

***

I never realized how hard it was going to be to get a ride back to my apartment in the storm. I had thought ahead and had my neighbor drop me off here this morning so that I didn't have to pay for parking. Unfortunately, that means that my car is sitting at home and my neighbor and friends are at work because it is 1:11 on a Friday. Normal people are at work.
