“Hair… not a strand.”
“Lips…” I made a kissing action at the mirror. “…Glossy.”
“Uniform…” A disgusted look went to my face. “…ew.”
“Over – all… PERFECT!”
I made a run downstairs from my room to grab some breakfast. As usual, my father was reading a newspaper while drinking coffee and my mother was preparing the breakfast. There were fruits, milk and bread and also cereal.
“Good morning mom, morning pop,” I said to them that very morning. “What’s for breakfast?” Uggh. What a question. At least, I’ve got something to say.
“Your fave. Milk and bread?” my mom laughed on her own joke. It’s not even a joke. Ha! I grabbed that breakfast and run to the door for school. I said goodbye to them without letting them answer.
I walked in the streets to school. It’s not really that far. I’m used to it. I looked around and smiled to myself. TGIF! It’s the start of weekend tomorrow, my free day, and also favorite. It’s my time to do anything besides school and studies. After a few walks, I’d reached school and stop. Okay. I’m ready for my special catwalk. And. Tadadada. Walk, walk, and walk with poise, just like a supermodel. Actually, I’m really a model in this fashion magazine. As they say, I’m really lucky because at my young age, I already got an interesting job. Big deal! I already know that.
I’m also the most popular girl in school and also the most beautiful. All eyes were mine and I smiled sweetly to everyone, very flattered for giving their eyes to me.
“Sam, your hair is so gorgeous,” a girl compliment, just what I like.
“As usual,” I flipped my hair and exposed my truly gorgeous hair.
“Sam, your eyes are so beautiful. Could I get your autograph?” I signed her very creative notebook with also her very artistic pen.
“Are you free tomorrow night?” I was so shocked by a sudden run to my face. A gorgeous guy just asked me out. But, he’s so sorry. I never ever go out with someone, even if he is the hottest guy or had the cutest eyes in campus. I just loved myself and only myself.
“Sorry, I’ve got some shopping to do tomorrow,” I answered him with my apologetic eyes and went past him.
“But it’s night. Will you still shop?”
“Not your business,” Another guy, down, just my business.
I went to the classroom and looked for my desk. But wait; is someone trying to put his butt in my chair? No, that can’t be. I poked him and said, “Hey! Are you so kind to get way from there?” He just looked at me with those attractive eyes and stand.
“Sorry, my mistake,” and he went to the other desk beside me. Obviously, he’s a new student. I’ve got no problem with. I also like new students, you know?
“Hi! I’m sorry about earlier. You know, I don’t really encounter someone who accidentally sits at my desk and it’s my first time,” I said to him with my sweet voice. “You really have a gorgeous eyes. With those shade of blue and cute hair,” I pointed my finger at his hair. Really, it’s cute because of while it’s wavy, it’s also dark brown. I just love those hairs, like the models.
He looked up and smiled at me. “Thanks for the compliment,” he said. “Actually, it’s also my first time to compliment someone because, usually, I just don’t look at people who I don’t know and talk.” I looked at my desk and at him again. In reality, I liked him but I don’t love him. Like I said earlier, I just loved myself.
“Sorry, but I don’t have the mood to talk right now,” he said it and my face just went red and I quickly got up in my seat and ran to the comfort room.
“You filthy, gorgeous guy. What do you think you are? A model?” I looked at the mirror like he’s just in front of me. “You don’t even have the body or the six abs. Or even those eyes, I think they’re contacts, so you could persuade someone to go out with you. Or are you trying hard-to-get with me? That’s impossible!” I was very angry that I could just spit out everything that I want to say even though it’s nonsense. “ I should have a plan. Yes, I should have.”
I thought of every plan I can think while I was heading back to the room. While I was just one inch to the door, Mr. Evans startled me. “You’re late Ms. Samantha Brooke. Where have you been?” Everyone looked at me like I was such an idiot.
“I’m so sorry, Mr. Evans. I was stuck up in the comfort room trying to fix myself and everything,” I smiled at him trying to convince him with my angelic face.
“Can’t you do it at your house before you go here at school?” he asked with his calm and still face. I rolled my eyes and he actually notices it.
“At my office, after class,” he said it while turning back to his class and continued his lesson.
“Whatever.”
I went to my desk and looked at my side. The new boy was, I don’t know, he’s like listening and also not. I quickly remembered my plan. And I spend the period thinking about it.
“Hey, Sam!” Ellis was running pathetically just to catch me. She’s a senior. She’s slowly catching her breath and finally looked at me. “You’re now in second year, so, could you finally join our drama club. You know, you could be our star. We could give you every role you want. Even the big ones.” She has this excited smile on her face and I let it down.
“Sorry, Ellis. I don’t have interest in theater. I’m already busy with my modeling career.” I went past her and went immediately at the office of Mr. Evans.
“Good morning, Mr. Evans”, I sat at the seat where his visitors usually sits. “You’re late again,” he looked from his papers to me.
“I’m sorry again, but someone just invited me to join her club and I’ve got a lot explaining to do, so, I’m kind of late because of that.” I glance at him but he’s still looking at his papers.
“For your detention – “
“ – Detention?” I cut him before he could say anything else. “But nobody said anything about detention.”
“Well, that’s why I called you to say something about detention. Naturally, I’m the only person who knew about it, so no one could say it to you, right? Except for me,” he explained it thoroughly, as if, no one’s listening to him. But I understood.
“I want you to be the partner of Mr. Tyree while he’s adapting this institution until the end of the semester.” He looked at me one more time with a smile on his face.
“Who’s Mr. Tyree?”
“The new student,” he smiled again.
