Lunch Break approached quickly. I feel anxious while on my way to the cafeteria for I would see Justin again. When I reached the said place, I catch sight of Justin wiping the tables. He saw me but yet he never said hi. Well, if that’s what he wants, I would also do the same. So, I leave him behind and started with my own work. While mopping, I think about Justin and the small thing we just fought. Yet, we’re still here, cleaning, and no change of schedule at all. I consider everything and, thud! I slipped in the spilled juice at the floor.

“OUCH!” I screeched in pain.

“Are you okay?” Someone held out his hand for me. I grabbed it and looked at the person who just helped me.

“Justin.” I made an apologizing face and said, “Thank you. And sorry about earlier.” I curled my lips a bit and glanced at him.

“That’s okay. At least you said sorry” This time, he smiled at me, for the second time. I don’t know why I’m counting but it just felt great. And we cleaned until the bell rang.

While strolling at the campus after dismissal time, I felt bored for the first time for doing nothing at all. I went passed the Library and some rooms, when, suddenly I saw Justin walking, too. I raced towards him.

“Hiya, Justin! Wanna walk home together?” I said to him, panting.

“But I don’t know where you live and you don’t know where I live.” He stated obviously.

“So, let us know where each other lives, right?” I said to him, raising an eyebrow.

“Okay.”

We walked together, but stopped for a senior just approached us. I suddenly recognized him as Mike, the lead guitarist.

“Hey, Justin! I heard you’re a talented guitarist and also a singer. Want to join the school’s official band?” He asked with sparks in his eyes, hoping that Justin is interested. “Well, it depends if it will not affect my studies and personal life. So, okay.” He grabbed my arms and walked away.

“Wait! There would be a meeting tomorrow! After dismissal! Don’t forget! Thank you again!” he shouted at the top of his lungs.

“I didn’t know you are into music.” I asked him while I’m leading the way to our house.

“Really, I’m in a band with my old school.”

“By the way, I don’t know about your old school. Tell me about it.” I asked curiously.

“It’s a long story. You don’t wanna hear it.” He shrugged.

“Well, I’m not asking about your story. I’m asking about your school, just described it.” I glanced to looked at his face.

“Uh, it’s good, nice teachers, cool grounds and…” he stopped and gaze at me for a second. “What do you want to hear exactly?”

“Uhm, I want to know if what kind of person you are there. Whether, you’re popular or not. You know what I mean.”

“I don’t know what you mean.”

“Stop joking! If you don’t want to answer, then don’t!” I exclaimed.

“You’ll get angry if I would not.” He started to giggle a bit.

I punched his shoulders until I realize that we’re home already. I mean I’m home.

“Bye. See you tomorrow!” I waved at him and walked to the doors.

I felt so glad that I’m still with my plan. But, it’s different now. This time, we’re friends and I don’t want to ruin that friendship which means my first time to have a real friend. So, I decided to extinguished that plan and forget about it all. What I want to think now is that, I’m happy with my present life and I would never regret that I met him.

I decided to make my very first diary in my whole life, just to remember my special or even daily experiences. I don’t want to forget every second in my life while I’m still enjoying it. I got an old notebook and start writing on a fresh page.

Dear Diary,

Hi! Nice meeting you! I want you to know that I would be your newest friend now. I’m Samantha Brooke. What I want to share with you now is about Justin. You may not know him but he’s really a good friend of mine or you could call him as my only friend. It’s weird, right? Because, first of all, he’s a boy and opposite sexes don’t really interact with each other well. But it’s different with us because we’re comfortable with each other and we could have conversations easily. And the last time he held my hand is when we just made up. That’s great, right?

I just hope that you could answer back, too. So that you could give advises, just like a sister. It’s just now that I realized I wanted to have a sister, just like Justin has. Well, good night diary. See you tomorrow, again!

Sam

I take a look at my clock and stared at the time. 7 o’clock.

7 o’clock?” I exclaimed and dashed to the bathroom to take my bath. After that, I got dressed in just 30 minutes! Incredible! I ran downstairs and grabbed a bread and fly to school.

“Sorry, I’m late. I didn’t realize the time.” I said it, breathless.

“And why, Ms. Brooke?” Mr. Evans had that still face again.

“Because – “

“We have a bet on who would stay awake until 3 o’clock in the morning.” Justin suddenly cut me off and bluffed that line. I’m surprised for what he did, for defending me just now.

“I’m upset with you for trying to cover this girl with your little lie, Mr. Tyree. And I’m also shocked to know that you’re actually an outstanding student at your old school.” Mr. Evans was glaring now to Justin.

“I’m sorry to disappoint you, Mr. Evans. But don’t you know that every person in this world has the chance to change? And I want you to know, that this school is different from my old school.”

“Don’t try to say that your old school is better than here – “

“For it’s true – “

“ – And don’t try to interrupt me while I’m still talking. Do you understand, Mr. Tyree?”

“Yes, I do.” He said quietly.
