They'd be here soon, I thought to myself as I sat on the tattered,
old recliner in the corner of the den.
I watch as my sweet Elizabeth sleeps peacefully at last.
She hasn't slept in days. The child she carries has taken
a great toll on her.
She was once strong and graceful, the daughter of an alpha. The faits could have given
her the mate she deserved,
a mate of her own kind.
But as fait would
so unfairly have it
she was mated to me.
I who could never protect
neither Elizabeth or my child,
from what would
come if I were to stay.
I look down at the floor deep in thought.
The child... My child...
I worry how she'll grow without a father but I shake the thought from my head.
At least she'll be safe.
I get up and collect my beloved mate in my arms. I take a moment to look at her and memorize everything about her, though I could never forget even the most minor detail.
A single betraying tear streaks down my face as I hold her
one last time.
I place a gentle kiss on her forehead "My beloved" I speak softly. Then placing another kiss on her stomach.
"My Destiny"
And just like that I was gone.
