Ryan"Dev, I need to talk to you."
We were at Angelos, Ricky was occupied with him.
"You didn't fucking tell me it would be a creepy ass doppelganger!" I hiss once we were alone.
"I thought you understood our conversation a few weeks ago." Devin replied crossing his arms.
"No Devin I didn't."
"What happened?" He sighed.
"Last night I thought Ricky was standing by the window. His back was to me and I figured he was sleep walking when he didn't respond. When i wrapped my arms around him to carry him back to bed he dug his fingers into my arm. Then I heard something behind me, it was Ricky, but another one." I rambled. "When I looked at the one who hurt my arm he was gone." I show him the finger sized bruises on my arm.
He examines them, his face expressionless. "We need to be very careful, learn which one is which. It's going to pretend to be Ricky and it can be very convincing. It's already showing to be violent, it's probably going to attack Ricky and anyone close to him."
"Great." I sigh, "just what I need right now."
/
"Ricky you ready?" I yell across the hall to the bathroom where he was getting dressed.
I figured Ricky could use some modern education, plus I didn't want him out of my sight even for a few minutes. When we were ready we all crammed in Devins car and drove to hell once again.
/
"Sitowstki it's about time you found a little bitch you faggot!" My long time bully yelled at as soon as we walked into the building.
Rickys tensed as i pulled him along with the guys who glared.
"What are we doing first?" Ricky asked curiously.
"English, we read and write today." He needed help with some words and he forgot how to hold a pencil. Once he got a hold of it he was fine but it looked like chicken scratches.
"We'll work on this later." The bell was about to ring so i packed up.
"I can't even read my own writing." He pouts.
"You'll get used to it again."
The next few classes went fine and now it was lunch time. It was just like it usually was, Angelo was sitting in Chris's lap. Devin now had his head on Josh's lap begging for food. I threw him a candy bar.
"You just saved my life." He gasped. "This fatass doesn't like to share."
"What's that?"
"Ryan! Rickys been here over a month and he hasn't had a candy bar." Devin scoldes me.
"Oops." I unwrap a bar and give it to Ricky. I watch as he examines it suspiciously. "You eat it." I tell him.
He takes a bite, his eyes lite up and takes another bite.
"Do you have more?" I wipe the chocolate from the corner of his mouth.
"Dont get sick." I hand him another one. I always kept a few in my bag, mostly for Devin to get him to stop complaining at lunch.
We skipped math and gym, since it was our least favorite.
"You'll like this class." I pull him onto the art room and get paper and paints out. His eyes light up again as he sits down. I'm not much of an art person so I wrote in my notebook.
"I finished." He holds up a painting of a sunset over a lake.
"That's cool."
"Not really." He's always been insecure about his art.
"When dad gets home I'll drive you to the art store and you pick out paints."
He smiles, "ok."
There was still one more class but Ricky looked tired and Devin texted me saying he was leaving. Ricky fell asleep in the car so when we got home I set him on the couch and go to the bathroom.
Catching a movement in the mirror I turn around. Nothing. You're just paranoid. Turning back I nearly jump out of my skin. It was Rickys doppelganger. I run out and let out a sigh of relief when Ricky was still in the position I'd left him in. I turn on the tv and pull him onto my lap.
When I look up the doppelganger stood in front of me. It looked exactly like Ricky right down to the innocent blue eyes. It was hard to believe that was an evil being who wanted hurt us.
My Ricky woke up and saw it. "I told you to stay away."
"We're connected how do you think I'm supposed to do that?" It sneered.
"I don't know, just don't do anything stupid."
"I make no promises." It smirked.
I couldn't believe the conversation going on right now. They seem like they've talked before.
"Just don't hurt anyone except me."
"You're not the one I want to hurt though." The other Ricky huffs in irritation and disappears.
"What the fuck just happened?" I demand.
"He's always been with me. No one ever knew, that's why Devin thought he appeared only recently." He explains.
"Why are you so calm?"
He shrugged
I sigh, "what can i do to help?"
"There's not much to help with, if you get confused I'll do something only we know about."
"Sounds simple enough."
