Layla Burre stood at the base of the stairs, tapping her foot impatiently.   The sixteen year old was convinced that if her brother did not come down the stairs right this instant they would both be late and miss the train. She took in a deep breath and called up the stairs, "Jonas, get down here now!"

Thankfully, her brother appeared at that moment. Jonas Burre was a tall boy with curly brown hair. Unlike his sister he didn't seem at all concerned about missing their train as he tossed his trunk down the steps, hopped on the hand rail and slid all the way down.

Her landed in front of Layla who was stood with her arms crossed. "Did you check to make sure you have everything?" She asked.

Jonas rolled his eyes. He knew that his sister had probably checked her trunk three times this morning. "I have everything."

Layla narrowed her eyes."Did you check?"

Her brother sighed, "I have everything, Layla. If I get to school and I forgot something then I'll just owl mum."

Layla opened her mouth to say something, but was cut off by Jonas. "We better get moving. You wouldn't want to make us late." He sent her a shit eating grin before stepping into the fireplace. "See you at the station! Platform 9 and 3/4!" Jonas dissapeared before her eyes. Layla sighed dramatically before stepping in after him.

...

The two children stood on the platform clutching their trolleys. Both of their eyes were scanning the area around them, neither wanting to admit what was the truth.

Finally Jonas sighed. "Their not here Layla."

Layla shoot her head quickly. "Mum and Dad promised they would be here to see us off. I'm sure they are running late." Of course Layla didn't beleive a word she just said, but she hated the way her brothers shoulders were slumped.

Her brother did not reply. Instead Jonas simply wrapped an arm around Layla and told her he would see her later before walking off.

Layla scanned the crowd one last time, pausing when her eyes landed on a familiar head of hair. The girl dropped her trunk and sprinted off towards her best friend. In one bounding leap, Layla landed on the boys back.

The boy stumbled forward, attempting to catch his balance. He let out a Yelp as his foot hit the edge of his trunk and suddenly the boy and Layla both were on the ground.

The boy lifted himself up onto his forearm, one hand over his eye. Layla felt a sense of mortification as she realized that this boy was not her best friend. This boy was Remus Lupin.

Layla stood up hurriedly. "You're not...." She took several steps backwards. "Sorry!" She cried before turning on her heel and sprinting in the opposite direction.
