He watched Tigerclaw kill Redtail.
He saw the ambitious plan(s) of his mentor.
He was the first to know of Tigerclaw's betrayal.
He ran away to Barley's farm to save himself from Tigerclaw (with the help of Firepaw and Graypaw).
Firepaw and Graypaw were the first he told about Tigerclaw's treachery.
And he came back to help them (more than once, I believe), to get rid of Scourge, a cat Tigerstar brought.
