"So..." He replies awkwardly.
"Ok. I'm done, what is it that you seem to not like about me because this is stressing me out..." I demand.
He stares through my eyes blankly as if I took a piece of him. Yet, I like it. His golden hazel eyes send a rush through my body forcing it to quiver. My eyes lower to his golden brown skin and his mesmerizing lips. I analyze him quickly, but he notices that I'm staring.
"Look, you are cute..., but I'm just not interested in heavy set women." He squeezed my hand and stood up from the table.
I watched him walk away in complete silence. Why is it always my weight that gets them? I start to tear up, but I force them back up by biting my bottom lip. My hands start to shake as I walk away from the table to leave, but the eyes of everyone looking at me didn't help. Storming through the restaurant door, I inhale a deep breath. The feel and smell of fresh air soothes my body. Online dating is the last thing I will ever take into consideration. What was I thinking? This guy was just like every other one: looking for a girl with a flat stomach.
Walking to the car, I notice the lights on the buildings blend well with the night sky. It reminds me of home, when we went to a MysticalT Concert with Mallie and Taj for my 19th Birthday. Life was easier during those days, the days when everything was fun and active. Now, you stop seeing everyone and you start missing the fun. My friends helped me through a lot, searching for new ones makes me feel like a traitor.
Mallie and Taj have been my best friends since 7th grade. Mallie has always been innocent to the outside world, but to Taj & I, she's another person. I didn't notice her heartbreaking until she broke Khalil's heart by leading him on thinking he was really serious with her. I felt bad for him, yet again, he stole a dollar from me the year before, so a laugh came out instead. Taj, he's the "Main" best friend, the first one I go to with everything. He hasn't disappointed me when it comes to my trust, neither has Mallie. We help each other through everything nor can we do things without each other. He dated this girl that didn't like Mallie and I, let's just say she no longer exists in any of our lives anymore. I miss the entertainment though.
I unlock the car and hop inside. My favorite song begins to play in the car loudly as I sing along. I drive home quicker than usual just to get the night off my brain with the help of a nap. Sleeping feels amazing after being tired. It gives you a sense of relief and completely lifts your body up as if you're levitating. My bed and I have always had a good relationship.
................. I walk down a hall of smoke, floor covered in water. The clicking of my sheer, black heels stream loud echoes throughout the hall. A man in black takes my hand and pulls me into a cloud of smoke. A dress of blue and black peels onto my skin, the waviest of hair stretches onto my shoulders, and my body mutates into a smaller, skinnier form. The man in black whispers in my ear, "This is not you, embrace it." Then, he fades into the dark, letting go of my hand. I yell at him to come back, but I wasn't sure what to do.
I wake up from my dream, finding Lala laying on my chest licking my chin. Lala, my golden brown pomsky, always makes my days feel bright. Everyday, she helps me pick my clothes or watches tv with me. She's like, me in a Pomeranian-Husky form. Her soft fur rubs onto my hand as I sit up from the bed. Maybe I should get another one named Kyng and give her someone to enjoy being with,at least other than me, as well. Here I go sounding like a matchmaker. I enjoy hooking people up in relationships, but I can't seem to maintain my own.
As I tiptoe out of bed, I hear Mallie cooking in the kitchen. She sees me peeping from behind the door and points me out.
"Morniiiing Leela." She shouts flipping a pancake. Her dog, Shelly, runs towards me and licks my toes.
I laugh and walk in to the kitchen, until Mallie notices what I'm wearing.
"Um...why do you still have on that dress from last night?..Speaking of last night, how did it go with Diez?" She says curiously.
I just point at my stomach and her smile turns into a frown. She knew everything that went down at that moment.
"Niggas are so childish and so lost in fantasy nowadays. I'm sorry you dealt with that, girl. Your man, Taj, called yesterday while you were gone." She winks.
"Taj is not my 'man', he's my other best friend. I don't know why you always say that." My voice cracks while I laugh.
"You and him have the biggest connection. He throws hints at you all the time, you just never catch them. But it's fine if you don't want to admit to it." She bursts into laughter.
I shake my head and smile as I look into the fridge. Mallie fixes two plates of pancakes, sausage, and bacon. I grab my plate off of the counter and we sit in the living room. She grabs the remote and turns to Empire.
"GIRL YES! HAKEEM! We are watching this!! Pause. Press Play & Rewind!" She excitedly says.
I stare at her with my signature stank face and we both laugh as hard as we possibly can.
"I'm gonna go shower and change. Be right back." I say as I run into my bedroom and undress.
"Hurry, Mrs. McCallister." She jokes.
I poke my head out of the door, and squint my eyes out at her. "Seriously, dude? It's not even like that." ...
Well...is it? Does Taj talk to her about me?
