The Charade

Today, Harry and I are going shopping for the day. He told me that I need to get my mind off of things and relax.

He obviously doesn't know me very well because anyone would know that I am not a shopper. Shopping stresses me out even more. Something about being around all those people, bothers me.

People just frustrate me.

Plus, I don't need anymore clothes. I'm happy with what I've got.

To be honest, Harry probably just wants to go shopping for himself and he's using me as an excuse. But I know that once we step foot into the mall, he's going to go crazy in the clothes department.

There was a knock on my bedroom door. I had just finished getting dressed when I allowed him to enter.

Harry stood in the doorway, his hand touching the top of the door frame. "Ready to go shopping?"

He was wearing his usual pair of black skinny jeans with holes all over, (the ones my mom hates but lets him wear them anyway), a red plaid button up shirt, and his brown boots. And his hair perfectly placed.

I smiled and grabbed my purse, "I'm ready."

I felt his eyes on me as I walked past him out of my doorway.

I quickly glanced back at him and gave him a questioning look.

He smiled, "you look great."

"Thanks little bro," I messed up his curls.

He backed away immediately, smacking my hand. "Leave me alone!" He laughed.

Being his sister, I ignored him and messed it up even more and he grabbed me by my waist and put me over his shoulder, like a sack, and carried me down the stairs.

I laughed uncontrollably as he struggled to carry me down the stairs.

"This used to be easier!" He laughed and gripped the railing, trying to save us from both tumbling down the stairs.

"That's because I used to be lighter you idiot!"

We both laughed and he set me down when we reached the bottom of the stairs.

"We better leave before mom and dad get home." Harry suggested.

What did he mean by that?

I raised an eyebrow.

"I don't feel like talking to them today."

I nodded, still confused about what he was trying to say.

Did he know something that I didn't know about mom and dad?

I decided to brush it off my shoulders and continued to act relaxed for Harry.

Harry grabbed his wallet from the kitchen table and slid it in his back pocket, while snatching a piece of licorice from the bowl on the counter and tossing it into his mouth.

"Wait..."

"What now Harry?!" I hollered, impatiently.

"I-I can't find my phone." He felt all over his pockets for it but it wasn't anywhere.

I let out a huge, frustrated breath. "Let's just go, I have my phone."

He nodded and opened the front door and let me out first.

Once we got to the car he opens the passenger car door for me and I got in.

A minute after, he got in on his side.

He backed the car out of the driveway, like a lunatic. When me and him go places, I usually drive but he didn't want me to stress out over it.

I'm stressing more with him driving.

"Harry, watch out!" I roared. I was louder than I intended and I think I scared him but he almost backed up into a cop car.

Our car was so close to smashing into the cop's car. If I hadn't been paying attention, there would've been an accident.

"Well why is he parked there?" Harry barked at me. "That's not a parking spot you asshole!" He yelled out the open window.

"Harry!" I yanked his arm back. "What the hell are you doing? He's a police officer!"

The policeman walked up our driveway and stood next to our car.

His body crouched down so he could see us. "Watch where you're going kid." He demanded. "And while you're at it, watch your mouth too."

I leaned towards Harry and looked at the man, "we're sorry sir, we just didn't see your car there."

He sneeringly laughed, "that's what the mirrors are for young lady." He tapped the rear view mirror.

"Next time, don't park in a spot that isn't a parking spot buddy." Harry mocked him and put the ignition in reverse and backed out of the drive way, as fast as he could.

The officer watched us drive away with a heated look on his face.

Before we reached the end of our street, I glanced back at our house and spotted the man on our porch, writing something on a piece of paper.
