The Badboys Nerd

Prologue

Now, I know what you're thinking. You think that this is one of those clichè chick flick books, where the main character is bullied by the badboys chick. That's where you're wrong.

My name is Violet James, I am that main character. I attend Westview High and I am one of the top students. With A's in my report card every term, I was heading to be a successful chemical engineer. Yes, a chemical engineer. That's one thing that isn't so cliché, because I'm sure you thought I'd want to be a doctor but that definitely isn't the case.

I was always lurking in the shadows in highschool, until my final year. This was the year I decided to make count. But here's where the problem is, people don't really notice me.

I've got this whole good girl persona going on, and okay fine- it never really mattered to me.

But, you can't stop a girl from wondering what it would be like to have boys fawning over you, and for people to actually know your name.

People rarely knew me. All they knew is what they could see. They knew i was smart. They knew I was a nerd based on my glasses and grades. But, that was it.

They never knew who I, Violet James, really was. They saw my clothes, and thought I was crazy. They saw my glasses, and thought i was a nerd. They saw my grades, and thought i had no life.

The only thing that wasn't plain about me, was my striking red hair. It wasn't anything too special. I decided to dye it last year, from my boring blonde colour.

Now i know what you're thinking. Ironic isn't it, the girl named Violet with scarlet hair.

Well, sue my parents for naming me a colour. I guess you could say i filled their black and white lives with colour.

Anyways, back to my dilemma. I wanted to be popular. It's what i want to achieve before the end of this year, but i don't know how to be popular. I was socially awkward when it came to me starting a conversation, but if you walked up to me and started blabbing about anything from cats to civil war, i'd gladly add to the conversation. I wasn't shy if you made the first move.

But my resting bitch face always puts me into a situation when it comes to that. I've been told i'm not the most approachable. Maybe that's why boys always shy away from me. Or well, atleast that's what i tell myself to protect my pride.

I've only had one boyfriend in my life- that's if you count Tommy from kindergarten. We were going strong, until he told me that my Barbie looked like she was a hobo. After that, i may or may not have slapped him and given him back my candy ring- which, being the total badass i am, already sucked and dropped onto the floor.

Speaking of sucking and dropping- no, i'm not a virgin. Sorry to all of those who hoped i was just so that they could have that steamy sex scene later on in the book.

My virginity was something i didn't really cherish. I lost it last summer, at some party where i was drunk off my ass with my best friends, Jessie and Ava. I didn't even know i'd lost it, until the guy called me at 10am the next morning asking if i'd wanted to go out for lunch. Sure, if he asked me any time after 12, i would've said yes. But the moment 10am was mentioned, this guy was already in my bad books.

So yeah, i've never been on a date or had a proper boyfriend. But, i'm happy. Single life is fun. I get to have my fun when i go out for parties, and i get to have little one night stands here and there. But it wasn't the hoe-y type of fun, where'd i'd literally drop my panties for any Tom, Dick or Harry at any given moment. I go out once in a while, and that's where i let loose. I'm not saying i have sex at every party i go to. It only happens if i find a decent enough guy for my drunk ass.

So that's me. The cliché, yet not so cliché nerd from Westview High, and i hope you're ready for my story. My real story, a journey from being a dainty wallflower to a popular girl. And let's just say, it's going to be a hectic ride there.
