This is a long one guys!
You woke up feeling nervous for the 5K run you were to do this morning for some charity or something. You threw your running shoes and clothes on and headed out the door.
Time Skip to Run
You had gotten more and more nervous as you went and stood in the crowd, waiting for the race to start. Unfortunatly, crap went down and you were placed to stand next to your crush of 2 years. He was the president of the charity running the races son, which made it all the more nerve racking. He won almost every year, with you behind him. He had a great reputation and you could sense that he didnt want to break it.
3......2....1.... "GO!!!" The horn sounded and everybody took off. As your crush and made your way to the front with you right behind him, you had noticed a problem. The patrol was still allowing people to drive on the other side of the track (the run was on the street), of which you were to loop around and run back on. This scared you because your crush was a little in front of you and he was running right on the line.
You tried to ignore this for the first 20 minuites of running, but snapped you head up when you heard a car honk suddenly and the person right in front of you, your crush, threw himself back into the crowd, trying not to get run over as a car nearly missed him. He didn't succeed in these actions since the person which was right next to him shoved him away, making him fall onto the ground.
"Thank god we were only a pack of about 5 people that were way ahead of the rest, or he would have been trampled", I thought. My relived thoughts were short lived when one of the other 3 people in our little band came right at him not noticing him at all. He was still trying to get up when one of them accidentally stepped right on his ankle, causing him to let out a pain induced scream. I knew it was broken when I heard the loud snap of his bone. The person who had done it looked back and kept running. I felt so bad for him that I wasn't going to leave him behind.
I looked around for anybody that might be on the sidelines prepared to help us. I knew that there was an first aid station at the end, and that was were we needed to go.
"Here I'll help you, it's okay!" I said reassuringly and helped him stand up. I felt horrible when he let out another gasp of pain.
"Thank you, but you dont have to lose the race because of me, go on, I'll wait on the sidelines for someone to come along."
"No, I can't let you lose your reputation because of some other stupid runner. You need to finish this race." And with that I hoisted him up and he wrapped his arm around my waist for support. My face had turned a bright red, but I couldnt focus on that now.
We were still ahead of every one, so he used his good foot and I used both of mine and we continued on our way.
We were close to the finish line and I knew he was in extreme pain. I was also breathless and knew I couldn't take it much longer. We were actually going pretty fast, keeping a lead against most of the crowd but we were slowing down fast.
The finish line was 5 steps away. I pushed him a little in front of me so he could beat me barely.
When I had caught him again and was leading him slowly to a seat, he said "You didn't have to do that for me. You deserve to win."
"No, I know that you wouldeve beat me if it wasn't for that car, so its only fair."
Things had caught up to me now and as I led him to the nearest seat, he was still clutching onto my waist for what it seemed like dear life.
When we sat down, he put his forehead on my shoulder, breathing heavily. I knew it was hard to do a 5K with two feet, so I couldn't imagine how hard it musteve been to only use one and break your ankle in the middle if it.
I guess he was just now registering how much pain his ankle was in when he went to set it onto the ground.
"AH!" He let out a suprised exclamation of pain. I winced, feeling extremely bad for him.
"Oh my gosh, I'll go get the first aid people over here!" I was going to jump up, when he pulled me back down and kissed my cheek. His lips felt warm on my cheek and my face turned red.
"Thank you." I felt his breath into my ear.
My heart jumped. "Yo-your welcome!" I said quickly.
"Stay right here I'll be right back!" I felt his arms leave my waist and I ran under the first aid tent about 50 feet away.
"Hey, my friend over there broke his ankle out on the track I think, can you please help him?" I quickly questioned.
"Yes ma'am, we will be right over. Let us get the materials to help your friend." After i told them were we were, I went back over and told him what they said.
Right when I sat down, he automatically wrapped his arms around my waist tightly and laid his forehead on my shoulder while biting his lips hard and closing his eyes. I guessed this was his was of dealing with the pain, but I blushed madly.
Figuring it would help, I tangled my hands in his hair and massaged his head lightly. This made his breathings less rapid, which I assumed helped.
About 2 minuites later, the first aid team had arrived and took off his sock to examen the ankle. (His shoe had already been taken off beforehand.)
"Alright, we are going to need to realign his bone before we can get him to a medical facility to get x-rayed and get a cast." They told me.
I knew this hurt terribly so I clutched him tightly while hearing the 2nd count down I heard heard today.
"3....2....1.... SNAP!" I felt his arms almost crush my ribcage as he let out a pain filled scream.
Sweat was all over his shirt and he breathed heavily after his ankle was popped back in a little. I also heard little whimpers, telling me that he was crying a little. His head was still buried in my shirt a little, so I wasn't sure.
"Okay, we are going to need to get him a ride to the hospital quickly since his ankle seems to be broken exteremly badly and we cant pop it in the entire way so it can get a cast." The first aid people told me and went off to go to someone elso who had unfortunatly gotten hurt on the track. "Well they were a big help."
They proceded to wrap his ankle, him moaning a little every time they touched a bad spot. He had never let go of me since I sat down.
"Hey, i'm going to go get your dad so he can give you a ride to the hospital, okay?" I whispered soothingly into his ear.
"No, no I need you to come with me there, please." He whispered urgently, as if I were his lifeline.
"Okay, okay, I promise I will come but let me go get us a ride first okay?" He nodded into my shirt and reluctantly let my waist go.
Before I left, I gently kissed his forehead.
Not looking back in fear of his reactian, I ran and notified his dad and he immeadiatly walked with me back to were his son was. They were done wrapping him up by the time we got there.
"Okay son, take it easy, i'm going to get you to the hospital in no time."
"No, no, no, she has to come with us, she promised me she would stay with me!" He said urgently again, grabbing my hand as i was standing next to him.
"Okay, I will pull the car as close as I can to here, but it might take me a couple of minutes, so will you lead him over to that intersection so I can pick you both up there?" He pointed at the intersection about 60 feet away. He was right, there was alot of traffic since awards had already been given out and everyone was leaving. I think his dad may have saved his medal for my crush, which was good.
"Yes sir, I will."
"Thank you for all of your help dear." He said kindly and rushed to go get his car.
In the meantime, I sat down next to him, wanting to feel the warm feeling of his arms around my waist again. Soon enough, right when my butt hit the bench, his armed were intertwined around my waist and his face in the crook of my neck.
"Thank you, (your name), so much." He said and my faced turned at red as a tomato for the millionth time that day.
"Anytime!" I replied
I figured his ankle pain would still be ringing throught his body excrutiatingly so I let him sit for about 10 minutes.
"Hey, it's time to get to your dads car now. Its going to be fine, I promise you." I said soothingly to him.
"Okay." He barely managed a whisper and I knew he would be in even more pain after this walk. When I stood up with him in my arms, he put almost all of his weight on me. This wasn't easy because I was a couple inches shorter than him so he almost towered over me.
I helped him move along slowly to the right intersection where I could see his dads car waiting. We were about three quarters of the way there, him grunting with each step, clutching more and more tightly onto my waist with each passing step.
After what seemed forever for him, we finally arrived at his dads car and the door was already open. I quickly helped him into the back seat and, knowing he would want me there, sat right next to him.
"Alright buddy, it's going to take a little while to get to the hospital in this mess of traffic, so bear with me okay?" I could tell his dad was sorry for what happened out on the track.
Only did I remember my crush was there when yet again, his arms found my waist and he was leaning on me like I was his lifeline. For about fifteen minutes he hadn't moved and I realized he mighteve passed out from the pain since they couldnt fully reposition his bone so it could heal. I laid his head down on my lap, careful not to move his ankle, and played with his hair.
It was only then that I realized I was in a car, with my crush, and he thought knew who I was. I gave myself a small smile. Finally I had gotten him to notice me.Time Skip
We arrived at the hospital and it was time to wake him up. His Dad got quickly out of the car and said he was going to notify the ER about our case, leaving me to get him inside.
Doesn't seem like he cares too much about his kid.
Once his Dad had gotten out, I decided to wake him up.
"Hey, come on its time to wake up now, we are going to get you some help."
His beautiful (eye color) eyes opened and he gave me a small smile.
"Well this is certainly something I wouldn't be opposed to waking up to every day." He said whispered to me. My eyes widened in suprise and I laughed gently at him, my stomach flipping, and ruffling his hair.
"Now come on, we have got to go int-" Before I could get out me scentence, he cut me off and quickly kissed me fully on the lips, paralising me memomentarily.
"Okay." He whispered.
After the 10 minute long walk that for normal people took 10 seconds, we were in the hospital waiting room and he was taken in immeadiatly. Being my adorable thing he is, he convinced the nurse to let me come in with him.
His Dad said he would let us go in alone since he "had charity money calls to make that couldnt wait."
They put him in a wheelchair, releiving me of my duties.
I walked beside him until he was wheeled into an x-ray room. I waited while they took off the wrap, silently wishing he had me to tightly hug when he was in pain since whenever the nurse touched a sore spot, he growled and held onto the wheelchair arm rests tightly.
After they were done with the x-ray, the Doctor came and led us into a small room to give him a cast.
"Ma'am, could you come outside quickly?" The Doctor asked.
"Sure." I said quickly.
When we were outside the room, he explained to me what they were going to do.
"Since the bone hasn't been completly put back into place, we are going to have to do the rest, which is going to be very very painful. Would you like to sit next to him while we perform this operation since you seem to be his girlfriend?" The Doctor questioned.
"Uh-Um yes, that would be great, thank you so much." I stuttered, blushing since I had been assumed to be my crushes girlfriend.
When we went back in, we got my crush to sit on a table and I sat right next to him.
"They are going to realign your ankle bone. This will hurt a little so be prepared." I whispered. I could feel his arms sliding around my waist again, preparing for more pain. His head buried into my shoulder as I heard a countdown for the 3rd time that day.
"3.....2.....1.... POP." I was being crushed to death by his muscular arms and I felt him breathing heavily.
"Please tell me, please tell me that there will be no more realignment going on after this..." he groaned.
"Nope! You did it!" I exclaimed, ruffling his hair again and smiling brightly at him. He told the Doctor what color cast he wanted after he had asked.
"I need to go grab the cast. Can I leave you two here alone?" The Doctor winked at me before I could respond and left, making me look down, blushing.
"Awww, is my wittle girlfriend blushing??" Your crush laughed and pulled you in for another sweet kiss, your stomach flipping at his words. Finally, he had noticed you. Finally.
