You knew he was a ghoul but you loved him anyway. He had never actually told you he was a ghoul, but you just knew he had to be one. Either that or he was depressed. You had noticed the way he was always uneasy about eating anything at a restaurant when the two of you would go on dates. You noticed how after the two of you would get home he would go straight to the bathroom and you would hear him throw up. He was always out at that little cafe in town, at first you thought nothing of it. You would go there and he would be working and hanging out with his friends. You had also made a couple friends there, friends like Touka and the old guy who ouns the place. But after a while of being there you noticed something else, food. Non of them ate. They never took lunch breaks or had little snacks through out the day. You also know that ghouls can't eat anything other than people, its just the way they are. Kaneki knows that you have no problem with ghouls, he knows they always fascinated you, and that you would love to meet one. So why would he hide this from you? You were at the cafe sitting at a table by the big glass window in the front, a coffee in your hands and a small frown on your face. Kaneki was out in the back doing something for the old man, leaving you with your thoughts. You were snapped out of your thinking when Touka sat down across from you "hey (y/n) you look upset, what's wrong?" She asked. You sighed and slowly turned your head towards her "Touka what are your thoughts on ghouls?" You asked still frowning. Her eyes widened as she looked at you "w-why on earth are you asking that!?" She asked shock all over he features. "I-its nothing never mind forget I asked." You said calmly looking back out the window. She sighed and continued to look at you, as if trying to read your facial features. "I think they are misunderstood" she said. You looked at her confused "what do you mean by that?" You asked. "Well people never really think about how they feel, they always think of them as monsters that just kill and don't have a free will of their own." She continued getting a little angry at the end. "I-im sorry I didn't mean to sound so defensive" she apologized. "Oh no its ok, in fact I feel the same way. I think of there was a way to show people how they really are then we wouldn't have this mess of hate between both groups." You had replied with a small smile showing, ghouls really were your favorite topic to talk about. "Y-you really believe that?" Touka asked shocked and you just simply smiled and nodded your head. Unknowingly to you Kaneki was standing behind you and heard what you had to say about the matter. He smiled at you and then went back to work. Touka had to go back to work too leaving you sipping your coffee with a little more joy then before. After Kaneki was done with his rounds he walked over to you "thank you for waiting for me (y/n)." He said as you stood up grabbing his hand. "No problem book worm" you said smiling at him. You both walked out of the cafe hand in hand with a nice calming silence, until he broke it. "So did you really mean what you said back there, about the ghouls that is." He asked looking down at you. "Yeah I did, why?" You asked back. "Listen (y/n) I-I have something that I need to tell you." He said quietly. "Of course Kaneki what is it?" You asked now curious as to what he had to say. "(Y/n) I-I I'm a ghoul." He said in a quiet voice barely above a whisper. You looked up at him again, and squeezed his hand tighter. "I know" you whispered. He stopped walking and you looked at him confused at the sudden move. "You mean you knew this whole time and you still stayed with me? You stayed even though you knew that I could hurt you?" He asked you, his voice raising a little. "Yes I knew, and yes I stayed. Because I honestly don't care what you do, I will stay with you no matter what...Kaneki I love you." You replied. He looked at you with wide eyes "(y/n) I-I love you too!" He said happily. With that you jumped up and kissed him while hugging him tightly, he was shocked by your actions but quickly kissed and hugged you back. After that the two of you walked home happily together hand in hand.
