"Mabel, I'm so sorry, but there's nothing we can do now! It'll be okay, it'll all work out!"
"How can you say that?" Mabel pulled her gaze away from the space on the wall the portal Dipper had disappeared into moments ago, wheeling on Ford, tears streaming from her eyes. "Dipper is gone because of your crazy machine, and all you say is 'it'll be okay?!"
The pain look Ford gave just made the sixteen-year-old angrier. He should feel sorry. "Mabel please-"
"I should have pressed that button."
Ford stopped speaking immediately, the spacious room becoming eerily silent. "Wha...what?"
"You heard me." Mabel's hands clenched into fists as her angry, heartbroken tears hit the floor, echoing in the room the original doomsday portal was contained. "I should've pressed that button four years ago! I should've trusted my twin that is now gone because of you!!!"
Mabel stared into the face of her great uncle. Ford stared back with such unbelievable grief and pain on his face. But Mabel felt nothing. All she knew was Dipper, her twin, her second half was gone, lost in another dimension because of the man in front of her's stupid ambition and determination to build a 'safer model' of the original portal.
It was his fault.
"Mabel, I..." Ford's words trailed off and he reached tentatively toward the normally bubbly teenager but the brunette girl slapped his hand away.
"No." Her tears had long ago stopped. She was now filled with an unimaginable fury. "Bring him back. Bring him back to me. And not in thirty years. Before the end of the summer." She turned and made to stalk out of the room, leaving Ford standing heartbroken in the middle of the room, but before she slammed the door she shot over her shoulder five words.
"I should have pressed it."

FanfictionOkay, I am so addicted to Gravity Falls it's not even funny. I have a big story for it planned, but in the meantime here's junk that pops into my head. Most'll be fairly short but hopefully entertaining! So yeah. Enjoy!
