With senseless violence
We are silenced
We speak against it
But it's not worth it
If our lives will end
In front of friends
Because of who we are.
The rainbow's burning
With our stomachs churning
Afraid to be ourselves
Because someone else will make it hell
To live our lives
If we don't fit their type
Because of who we are.
Because people hate
If love is not straight
It's every queer's fate
Because we all exist
They'll mock us and abuse us
The media will misuse us
Because of who we are.
They'll say we're wrong
But we have to stay strong
Because if we hold a frown
They'll push us down
Hold our heads underwater
And make our whole lives darker
Because of who we are.
But we need to remember
That love can last forever
We need to be ourselves with pride
Our people shouldn't have to hide
We're forced to have brave souls
We try to convince ourselves we're beautiful
Because of who we are.
