London, when someone says the word UK a lot of you think of London with all it big, old and new buildings plus the red busses and the famous under ground trains. But there is a lot of stuff you didn't know about, did you know that London is the most haunted capital in the world, with a dark past and some stuff from the past we still use today and don't even know. A lot of you must have herd about the great fire of London that happened in 1666 it was started in pudding lane when the baker was baking bread, he fell asleep when a spark came out the oven and set fire to the bakery, where the houses was so close to each other and there was no real fire trucks like today the fire started spreading fast, as people was screaming fire they all ran afraid being trampled on but the faster they tried to get away the fire just kept on spreading. The great fire of London went on for days across London, all this because of one person who fell asleep. But was it the bakers fault or was it the devils work.

Now we going back before the great fire of London to 1665-1666 with the Great plague that killed an estimated 100.000 people that was almost a quarter of the population in London. The plague was caused by being bitten by an infected rat, the thought to cue it was to chop off the part of the body where you was bitten or if you was from a more well off part you would pay to have leeches put on to where you was bitten as they thought the leeches would suck out the infection. It was all done by someone called the plague doctor but the plague doctor doesn't really look that pretty infect he/she looks really scary they would wear a mask that had a really long pointy nose like gru (out of despicable me) a lot of people all ways wonder why the nose was pointy as it looks weird and creepy, well when you got the plague you would more unless die so they was round rotting flesh a lot as the infection made your flesh rote and you should all know that rotting flesh smells so at the end of that pointy nose was herbs that smelt really nice so they wouldn't smell the rotting flesh. Kinda weird I know but really clever at the same time. And a lot of people still think the plague in the UK is about and peoples first answer is no it isn't, well you are wrong the plague is still about it's just unheard of as there is a cure for it.Picture of the plague doctor.
