Ever since i was five years old i had always wanted to explore, for my 6th birthday my grandad gave me a compass and said "You may need this one day" me and my grandad were so close, he used to tell me all sorts of stories about explorers and how they would just go off one day not knowing if they would return, we all know the story of the man who travelled the world in 80 days, and Amelia Earheart who was the first woman pilot who travelled but she never came back no one knows what happened to her, i just find fascinating! i would sit on my grandads lap and just listen to him tell stories about these people and i just knew i wanted to be like that one day, discover my own world and be famous because of it. i met my best friend Katy a few years later when were 9 , i told her all about my passion for travel and discovering new worlds and i was amazed to here she had the same dream, we would talk about it for hours, play games in the garden, we would stack boxes up high and pretend we found land and claim it as our own. We would spend hours reading books on the subject. For my 10th birthday my dad gave me a massive map to put up in my room so i could map out where i wanted to go, me and katy decided we would take a whole year to find new places, sadly not all places show on the map, places that havent been discovered yet, that was what we wanted to find new places and put them on the map. At school my favourite subject was geography i would spend hours studying worlds and to see what i could find and write about, my teacher saw the passion in me and gave me a book that i will never forget.
