"The Phoenix"
I plopped down on the blue bench beside me and let out a sigh. The November wind blowing my blonde hair gently, it sent a chill down my spine. I looked at my outfit:black skinny jeans, a band t-shirt, and a black jacket. There was something I noticed though, I was getting thinner. It's fine though, I need it. I pulled out my earphones out of my pocket and plugged into my phone. Scrolling through my music, I settled on a song "The Phoenix" by Fall Out Boy. I closed my eyes and listened to the lyrics.
Hey young blood doesn't it feel
Like our time is running out?.
Im gonna change you
Like a remix.
Then I'll raise you
Like a phoenix.
I smiled and listened again:
Wearing all vintage misery
No I think it looked a little better on me.
I'm gonna change you
Like a remix.
Then I'll raise you
Like a Phoenix.
I took my earphones out and put them back in my pocket. I wish I could be a phoenix. I would fly in the sky and not give a care in the world about what other people thought about me. How I dress or the music I listen to or the way I walk or talk. This world makes no sense and I want to get out of it. I opened my eyes and heard footsteps from behind me and a voice. "Emma, where have you been we've been looking all over for you!" I knew exactly who it was. I turned around and waved "hi guys".
