I ran, I ran so fast. The wind bit and howled at my face, my scarf not doing much to protect my face. My fingers ached as I clutched the object in my hands. I could hear the growling and snarling of the creature behind me, its steps pounding behind me while my light footsteps did everything in their power to save me.  I knew I wouldn't be able to outrun this hellish beast, and so with a flick of my wrist, I tried to open a portal. I failed. I tried again. I failed. My hand wasn't hot enough. I panicked as I heard it get closer. I brought my hand close to mouth and blew hot air on my hand and then I could feel the sparks. I cut a hole into space and ran through it, the hole closing immediately behind me.

I could finally catch my breath and I broke down into a heap of sobs, rejoicing over the fact that I lived. However, the weather was still cold, but it was a silent beautiful cold. Small snowflakes danced around me as if they too were happy that I lived. The snow looked soft, and so did the grey and lavender sky. I felt at peace. I knew, however, that I would have to return the place I call "home".

I remembered the object in my hands, a light going off in my head. I quickly undid the cloth that was covering it and marveled at it. The object was a book, a book of old forgotten spells. The cover had intricate designs, that reminiscent of the old Celtic designs in their books. It had small precious stones that shone brightly as if glowing. The book smelled of old leather, and a wave of nostalgia hit me.

You see, I collect books of the past. Books of forgotten magic, the magic of the olden days that are now thought of dark and dubbed forbidden. I laughed slightly and hugged the book, then carefully wrapped it up. Placing it gently on my lap as if it could disintegrate any moment, I rubbed my hands together and could feel the electricity spark up and crackle. I quickly opened up a portal thinking of home, and quickly stood up with my things and new treasure and walked through, feeling the warmth surround me.
